Default Best Adjustable 1.7 Roller Rocker setup?

Are there any choices (other than the Jesel that I've heard mentioned before)?
I'm looking at the probable need to reinforce my valvetrain, since I will be spinning to 6900 on a semi-regular basis, and I've seen a few examples of our stock rockers not liking that...and need the adjustability to make up for milling of the heads I'm going to use with the high lift/dur (226/.591/112) of my cam-- what do you guys think I would be best off with, reliability and cost-wise?

The T&D shaft rockers are much more affordable than the Jesel stuff. I have them on my new motor, but haven't had to do anything with them yet, so I can't say much about the adjustability compared to anything else.

Thunder Racing sells them, and has a pic on their website...

T&D Rockers

I had them on my car with the solid roller setup. Adjusting them was not bad at all. It only took about an 1.5hrs to complete. I only adjusted them after initial startup and checked them after 5k miles. Initially, the lash had moved. This is very normal with new rockers. At 5k miles, they had not moved at all.

These are a great set of rockers and I would reuse them in a heartbeat. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Thanks, fellas... I'm very interested in the T&D setup...sounds like a good deal for the price--
anyone else have experience with them that wants to give me some input? <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Howdy,

There are a few caveats when using T&D rockers, and there may be equally as many running the Jesels. I havent tried the Jesels, only the T&D.

1. You have to significantly alter the pushrod holes. You cannot do this with the heads on the car.
2. You have to clearance the inside top edge of the head, near the pushrod end of the rocker.
3. You must run valvecover spacers or aftermarket valvecovers.
4. DO NOT believe the torque values for the bolts that hold down the shaft. My intructions from T&D said 50 lb/ft. On an M8 bolt that goes into an aluminum casting? Thats insane. I thought 35 would be a good number. Bolt broke off at 32 or so. I went with 20-24 on all the rest after extracting that one.

The rockers are a great setup for people who are building an engine. There are few good reasons to just swap on a set for "performance" if you have a stock bottom end. The stock BE will let go before the RPMs get high enough to warrant springs that need great rockers at such high RPMs. The stock rockers are pretty nice, too.
When I have built my all-bore, I am going to put a set of Jesels in so that I can spin it reliably quite high.

Yeah, what Terry said--
Sounds like it's a "high-hidden-cost" project-- What was the total dollar amount you ended up parting with for this switch?
Is it worth all the $ and trouble if I'm spinning to ~6900?
I'm trying to decide if the stock rockers will be reliable enough at that level, and I'm willing to swap if I really should, but I'm not one for wasting $ on a component that is un-necessary...

The Crane Gold 1.8's fit the heads fine. Hadta do a little milling on the bottom of the covers to get 'em to fit, but no big.

No way the 1.8's are gonna ride that big of a cam, though. You'd haveta tone the lift down to .545 or so. Call Crane's Tech line and ask 'em what's the biggest ramp rate/lift spec you can have w/ 1.8's...

Will the T&D fit under the stock valve covers? If not, how much are the spacers? I'm always looking for new fun mods. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Ah just read the answers to my questions. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> So is there a good set of 1.7 or 1.8 shaft mount rockers that will fit the stock valve cover, don't require head r&r, and are adjustable?

TTT-- need to know soon-- the car is halfway apart <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
Why did Viceral have to do all kinds of modifications and clearancing, when it imply's that Jason99 just bolted them on and that was it?
Or am I missing something? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

No, I had to use SAM valvecover spacers and modify some parts of the valvecover for them to fit. Also, you do have to clearance the pushrod holes since the valvetrain geometry is quite different.

The heads must be off the car to do all of this.

The heads that are going on to the car are not the ones that are on it now--so they're not on yet -- you don't know of any place that I might find some pictures of this modification, do you?
I appreciate all the help <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
