Smoking after Idling 2 or 3 Minutes When Reving Engine to about 1500RPM!
Hi Guys hope you are all doing well!
What would likely be the cause of my truck smoking after it sets idling for 2 or 3 minutes. NO SMOKE HAPPENS AT ALL UNTIL YOU REV THE ENGINE A LITTLE.
It doesn't smoke on the highway no matter how hard you run the engine.
It doesn't smoke after setting overnight or a couple of days when you start it.
I have taken the PVC Valve and line out of the engine and put it in a small bottle and rapped it in foam so it couldn't suck dirt into the motor.
I runned the truck for a week like this and it still does the same thing.
I have no cats on it. I am using O2 Simmulators from Caspers Electronics to fool the computer.
COULD IT BE A HEAD GASKET OR WOULD RINGS DO THIS? WHAT ABOUT VALVE SEALS? BUT IF IT WERE VALVE SEALS WOULDN'T IT SMOKE AFTER SETTING OVERNIGHT?
THE DEALER IS GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND AND I AM TIRED OF WAITING.
I have a 5.3 engine in a 2002 Silverado Sportside.
Can Fuel smoke be blue too on these trucks?
The Longer it idles the more smoke you see when you rev the engine. The harder you rev the engine the less smoke you see.
Don't know man! This is driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Guys for your help!

I just finished changing valve stem seals on my 74 chevy 1/2 ton because of problems similar to what you describe. New seals fixed the problem where blue smoke came out the tailpipe after startup.
The valvestem seals were so old they cracked when pulling the spring off the valvestem. I replaced them with the unbrella type.
