Default I have chocolate milk on my lifters.

I'm checking out a used engine I bought for $1200

I don't need the heads or the valvetrain off it. Mainly I'm concerned with the short block.

I took the heads off today and I found two bent and one broken PR. To my untrained eye I see no visable damage to the valves or the piston tops. I haven't cleaned them yet but, the cylinder walls and everything look fine.

I can tell that the previous owner was a racer because of the PRs.

Like I said I'm concerned with the bottom end. My oil pump went out in my TA so I'm pretty sure the heads/cam/valvetrain are good. (hopefully)

Let me include the milky oil on the lifters and needle bearings from one of the rocker arms.

milky oil is usually a sign of water or coolant in the oil getting in the oil

Can I get some suggestions on what to look for to ensure the bottom end is in good condition?

There's rust on the front of the crank and the oil pump.

Any suggestions? I'm gonna try and get my $$ back, the seller said he would stand behind the motor.

If the PRs are broken, I'm sure the motor has been beat to hell. Also, coolant in the oil will trash the bearings...and a rusty oil pump? Damn. Get your $$$ back.
