Default Paging WS6 Trans Am Girl or Joe Prince

Did the TA ever make it to the track with the new h/c? I'm still amazed it put out that much power and am very interested in seeing the times it will run, as that is one of two cams I'm trying to decide on. Thanks! BTW, Joe, has anyone ran the Hot cam with your heads, and if so, any results you could give?

I know Erin and Joe did get a chance to get to the track but had some problems with the factory clutch.

Erin is stock weight (approx. 3600lbs) and with 3.42s the factory clutch wasn't very happy. She has run a bunch of 12.2s I beleive.

Hey Bravo,
The car in complete stock form except for the engine mods and programming has run the best of 12.20's at 118.23 mph on 2.0 - 2.1 60' marks. stock clutch is giving out at high RPM shifts and it will not plant a 60' mark to save it's life with the stock 3:42 gears. there is no weight reduction and the sway bar is still on, needless to say, she keeps me honest with the track times no matter how much I try to set it up for the track. I would expect 11.80's at 120+ out of it once the 4:10's go in it and the clutch gets upgraded. Then we can drop the sway bar and run the skinnies. At that point, I would hazzard to guess there is a late 11.6x in it with a little more MPH. Erin insists on trying to put in the 11's the way it is now though..

Now, the HOT cam deal, I think it got a real bad rap right out of the gate with the lobe flake problem, since that time, there has only been a select few brave souls running the new hardened ones, and seem to be running well. Not to take me wrong, but I shied away from the R&D with it because of the old problems with it.
Joe.

Too bad about all the problems. I bet that setup in my A4 w/ 3.73's would be deep in the 11's. Offhand, do you think your S1 heads would flow well with the Hotcam specs (218/227 .525)? And, when you get a chance could you e-mail me about how much they are? I can get a guy in town to port/polish mine for a good deal (guess I'm a budget racer), but I honestly doubt he's done LS1 heads before. So there I'd be willing to spend a few extra to have it done right. Thanks!

Bravo,
Yes, I agree with your statement about a stalled A4 ET's. The HOT cam will work fine with our S1's, Erin is running a 218/.527 cam right now. All of our pricing will be on our web page by this week, I have been too busy to work on it lately. I dropped you an E-mail.
Joe.

Heya Bravo
Looks like your question has been answered for the most part, but I am thrilled with my car... and I am definately being stubborn with keeping the car in full and complete street trim. I might have to go out and get a clutch though because my z06 clutch isn't too thrilled with me right now. Otherwise, I am keeping the swaybar in, the seats in, jack/spare in, running on nittos, and stock gears. I know a set of gears would put me in the 11's easily, but I am learning to drive so I don't want to mod the car to compensate for my lack of driving experience.
I really think I can squeak into the 11's as the car sits as long as I can put everything together. If I launch well, I shift badly, if I launch poorly, I shift well... just can't get my ducks in a row I don't powershift for those reasons.
I'm having a whole lot of fun with the learning process though

Erin that's a great approach and a great attitude. We should learn to enjoy what we have instead of trying to compensate. I wish u good luck in your quest.

Erin's attitude is terrific. I'll bet she is having a great time. Is the 218 a single pattern cam? It's what I want to put in my car, but the tuner insists a split pattern is better. I'm reading so many opinions that it gets confusing. I have a few months to decide. Maybe I'll flip a coin.

It's a 218 224 cam on a 112, and it makes 400 RWH by 5,500 rpm and streaches it out till it's well over 6,700 RPM, it peaks out at 415 RWH at about 6,100 RPM. All around driveability is great IMO. This package that she has could use a better spring and Ti retainers but I wasn't counting on making too much over 390 RWH when it was first built.

Those are impressive numbers. I hope to make around 390 hp. Actually I'll be happy with that. My reasoning for a single pattern is that the intake max is 265 cfm's. Maybe that's why the reverse cam's seem to be making power. Does this make sense or is my info not right. By the way I'm an old timer originally from Queens. Late 50's early 60's hot rodder. A lot of Jersey guys came over for wed. night racing on connecting highway. Now the BQE. Drag racing is a lot harder to quit than smoking. Good luck to Erin. Sounds like she will make it work.

Thanks
I just think of it as putting priorities in order you know? I didn't dump money into my car just to stress about petty arguments and bitch fights. It's pretty pathetic. My car and the track is a stress release for me, where I can get away from work and everything else. When it no longer becomes fun, that's when I will no longer participate as I do not see the point.
I am not competitive with other people, not into the **** talking and calling people out. I just go out every time to try and best myself and drive well, and I have a blast every time. I also enjoy driving my car, its completely streetable... I drive it to Etown, lower the pressure in my nittos and I'm good to go
I have been fortunate enough to become great friends with a lot of extremely knowledgeable people. Joe has taken a lot of time to answer the many, many questions I have had about LS1's and racing. If I have a question or concern there is always someone willing to take the time out of their day to explain things to me and help me fix the problem. And I have basically taken a crash course in learning to drive an M6 down the track this last season. I'm no John Force and I never will be, but I'm getting better and having a ball in the process!

I do want to get to corny, but. It was 1/4 mi. between bridges. We had to quit racing when the cars got too fast for their brakes. Turns came up on each side of the road after the quarter and cars had a hard time stopping. Big blocks were coming on and the cars were huge, but brakes were an after thought!
