just had car dynoed with TR230 cam....
and the results sucked. I had a T1 cam in my car with a MAFT on it and it pulled 390 last year, So I was hoping for at least 400 this time... NOPE, I lost about 25 hp. My best pull was 365 so something is seriously wrong.
Before I dynoed, I loaded in a new program from LS1edit raising my timing. What is a good timing to have that cam set at? It was around 18-19, but we raised it up to about 27-28.
On the last dyno run, I hooked the A-tap on the last run and my O2's were crazy, the were at .83 and .81.
But on the way home, I did some more WOT runs, and they jumped up to .945 and .95?!?!?!
Would that be because I had just uploaded that LS1edit file before I dynoed??
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?? Anyone have a .LS1 file for the TR230 cam??
thanks!!
John

Sounds like you have a bad tune and your air/fuel is all over. See if you can get a dyno with a wideband O2 and tune it that way, it's much more accurate.
Do you have a ported MAF? If so try a stock one.

I was planning on getting this cam. Your results don't reassure me too much, maybe I'll just stick with the 224... I remember Jason's numbers were MUCH better, but he has an advantage over us I suppose. Now I'm once again trying to choose a cam. Doh

That does sound weird. You should have picked up some.. What is also wierd is you had your timing originally at 18 degrees with the T1? Mine was at 29 to 30 degrees at WOT with my old T1. Wideband tuning is going to be your best bet. You also cant compare your #'s to anyone of the others running the TR230 cam because 90 percent of them have wideband tuning and not mail order. Hmmm.. Tuning is awesome when you can do it with wideband. W/out it your #'s will never be optimum.

Did you install it right? Did you make sure It was TDC before installing it? Possibly retarded alot of timing? Don't know I just ordered this cam and was hoping to gain hp not lose...

Re: just had car dynoed with TR230 cam....
Well, It looks like it is running TOO rich. Last week, we tuned it and my Ltrims were about -2% and O2's were about .93. I was happy with these, but yesterday, they were around -12 and .96-.97. I keep throwing a code of low MAF failure. So it looks like the problem is with my MAF. I also think a plug might be crapping out on me as well.

John, Like everyone else is saying, a bad tune can totally kill the hp. Jason does have the advantage of tuning "in house" which can make a good bit of difference. We also tend to spend time on Jason's car finding every last HP w/ tuning & the wide-band, which gives us a good knowlege base for tuning customers cars. Give Geoff a call tomorrow if you have time for some suggestions, I'm sure he'll be able to help you out. Our toll-free # is 877-516-7223.
