How good are Trick Flow heads? Video evidence inside!
I know most of us have seen the dyno numbers that the Trick Flow heads are putting down. They are impressive to say the least! TEA, and Trick Flow have built a great head.
I have in the past posted my track time slip numbers (ET and trap) that my Trick Flow setup runs. While they are by no means the quickest or the fastest they are respectable for a 3400lb street car N/A.
I have no dyno numbers. I tune my car at the track using EFI Live.
Our local track just reopened last week so today I went out to see how the car would do ( I just put a new carrier in my stock 10-bolt) and to shoot some video.
The car was run just like I drive it with the exception of the tires. This is a stock 1998 short block, all motor.
Enjoy! See video link below.

Nice run....
Your car is very well set-up for a dual purpose drag car (meaning one that still see's some street time as well). You are off less than a tenth and a half from your theoretical best at that MPH (10.52 would be the quickest a car with your current trap speed could ET). Thats very good even for an auto....a manual trans dual purpose car is usually off 4 tenths or more from their theoretical lowest ET....some of the better driver's and set-ups closer than that obviously.
I assume based on your previous track results (and weather) posted you were probably racing in some negative D/A territory?
Congrats on the new best times....your car 's set-up is definately dialed in.
Gotta love the auto trans with the right converter for turning a good ET....What was your 60 foot on that run?
Tony M.
PS....Looks approximately 550 HP flywheel based on your previous results and assuming slightly negative D/A with your current run.

That's some seriously strong running John. Congrats on the new best. Your combo is well-engineered.

Thanks Tony. The DA at the time of the pass was around -450ft. My 60 on that run was a 1.53. The car typically 60s closer to 1.50 but I had some tire spin when the nose cam down and unloaded the rear tires.
O2Z28 – I am sure you will like the heads. What cam are you going to run?
Thanks Patrick.

It has been brought to my attention that the ET and MPH are not completely clear on the scoreboard in the video. The pass was 10.85 @ 125.33 not a 10.65.
However the MPH does support a 10.65 pass if the 60ft time was better.
Sorry for the confusion.
John

man, those are some impressive results. It makes me want to buy these heads so bad, but cant qutie justify spending about 3k for them. well if i had the money i would. but being in college, it takes me 3 months to make that much money. maybe in a few years i will, but by then i will probably need a new motor as well.

Thanks guys.
I did not actually weigh the car on Sunday. I have weighed the many times in the past. With the configuration I was running and the ½ tank of gas I had, the car weigh without question between 3390lbs and 3410lbs.
I am running 3.73 gears in a stock 10-bolt with a True Trac carrier and 26” tires. I was running the Hoosier 26x9 slicks in the video. I usually run 275-50 M/T ET Street Radials.
My Trick Flow heads were milled from 64cc to 61cc. No additional work has been done to the heads.
