Who knows if the tune for the 5.3 heads was even optimal. They may have gained 10-15 on the stock castings with a better tune. Too many variables to state that just the heads gave that amount of gain. I do not believe it.

My answer is the ETP 215's. So if I were comparing ETP to Trick Flow then I want to compare ETP 215's to Trick Flow 215's. If both heads were tested on the same car with a typical street cam (F13 lets say) then I would be most interested to see who comes out on top and by how much. That would be a fair and real world "apples to apples" comparison.
But this comparison does nothing to satisfy my curiousity and it certainly doesn't prove to me that Trick Flow > ETP.

If nothing else, this proves that the TFS are capable of making 480+ rwhp on a variety of different dynos from a variety of different shops.

I dont think this thread was started to be an "End all" comparison by any means.. Chuck, correct me if I am wrong...
I think the post speaks for itself. Customer came in with ET 5.3s and left with TFS heads making X amount more power.... Shops post results like that all the time. I see no harm in this comparison and I am more than happy for the guy making 480s with TFS heads... I have yet to see a TFS combo done properly lay down less that 465rwhp with AWESOME street manners
For all of the guys who think the comparison is "useless" start sending your local speed shop some financial support to do the back to back testing you want to see done... I personally dont know many people who will buy two sets of heads just for the sake of comparison ....
BTW, we sell TEA/TFS and ET heads... So Im not biased either way

Post speaks nothing but his last results. Was it tuned right the first time, old set ET heads? Maybe HPE got the tune right this time with a set of good flowing heads? I don`t disagree there heads flow great. Just not a honest head to head test. Would have like to at least see HPE to have played with the old set-up and got numbers, then swapped and retuned. Would have helped alittle and would have only cost dyno and tune time for HPE. Great number though!

I think this thread would of went over better if he had just compared them to ported stock castings and left ET's name out of it since he wasn't comparing both companys top of the line products.I think this just helps confirms what most people had already figured, that TFS 215 heads are better than ported stock castings as are ET 215 heads.Neither company would waste their time making theses heads if they didn't think they offer more than the stock casting.

etp 5.3l heads are what you get in the hpe stg 3 h/c package.... i'm sure they did the work the first time, as well as this time. same shop, same tuner, different heads... i don't see any issue with this comparison.

As was mentioned several times already, all this thread shows is aftermarket castings are better than the ported stock castings.
