What will the TR 220 114 LSA cam do to my exhaust note?
Here is my situation, I already have SLP LT headers, with cats, and an SLP loudmouth exhaust. Although this exhaust set up is pretty loud, it still isn't loud enough for me at idle, and under normal accelleration. Therefore I'm kind of hoping that the TR 220/220 .561/.561 114 LSA cam will make my exhaust note a little louder, and deeper sounding. Especally at idle. Obvioulsy I would like to go with a bigger cam, but the TR 220 114 LSA cam is the biggest cam that will pass smog in CA so basically anything bigger is unfortunatly out of the question. Now, I have heard sound clips of the TR 224 114 LSA cam running though LT headers and an open cut, but it is very difficult to tell what a cam is going to sound like in real life, from a sound clip. Thats why I'm hoping that some of you guy's either have this cam with a similur exhaust set up, or you have heard a car with the cam and a similur exhaust set up.
I have also heard that this cam isn't going to lope that much at idle, but my question is, will the TR 220 cam make my exhuast note any louder and deeper sounding at idle and under normal acceleration?
Thanks in advance.

Re: What will the TR 220 114 LSA cam do to my exhaust note?
The lope is dependent on the LSA of the cam and your idle speed as the 2 main factors. If you set your idle @ 700 rpm then you'll have a better lope than @ 850 which will be barely noticeable. Just remember that when you get emissons tested that you'll have a better reading with a higher idle. So you can temporarily adjust it up with the screw on the TB at that time.

That is a clip of a TR220 114 LSA through stock manifolds and cats with dynomax muffler. (not my car).

My TR220/114 was installed 2 days ago.... Idle has a mild lope to it. A bit deeper, screams at WOT! Soooo Sweet!

camss that sound bitchin!I love the rev at 22 seconds into the clip.Whats your idle at? Im guessing it would lope harder on an A4.Hows the lowend compared to stock?

Idle is right around 800-850 rpms. I'm thinking of lowering it just a touch (maybe) to bring out the lope just a bit more...
Sound is definitely deeper and louder...
And she's stronger all over - I can't wait to get her to the dyno...

Thankyou all very much for the responses.
I would also like to give a special thankyou to camss, for that bad a$$ soundclip of your car. Your car sounds freaken awsome Your exhaust note is very loud and deep at idle, which is exactly what I want. I just have one question for you though, were your running your Borla wide open in that sound clip? I'm assuming you where, due to how loud your exhast was, but I just wanted to confirm it. Actually I guess I have two questions for you, are you running offroad pipes, or cats in that soundclip?
