Re: CARTEK 415CID LS1 C5
I don't know anything about the portable weather stations, but I did read that lots of people don't use them right. Portables have to be read in the SHADE to be accurate, and some take readings in the direct sunlight. Last year, when JS got questioned about DA on a certain run, his portable (same one Cartek uses, not sure?) was over 1000 feet higher than the "underground" site lots of people use. Since then, I put little stock in DA's posted. Kind of like dyno #'s....
Either way, nice track times on this package, Julio........

The car runs awesome no matter what! I checked out the website above for conditions on June 30th in Atco, NJ. It lists the following at 11:54 a.m.: (over 40 minutes after the run according to the time on the timeslip)
temp: 82.94*F
dewpoint: 66.02*F
humidity: 56%
pressure: 30.21
Atco sits at 146' actual elevation. If you run this through the D.A. calculator found here, you get a D.A. of 1,663'. How did you come up with a 2,500'+ D.A., and where did you get the 96 degree temp that was written on the timeslip? I have a hard time believing that it was 96 degrees at 11:09 in the morning. I know someone that was very close to Atco yesterday, and he said it was in the mid-80's for a high. What gives? Like I said, this is not to take away from the setup. It runs friggin awesome! 1,600'+ D.A. is nothing that I'd consider awesome, but it's definitely better than the 2,500'+ being spoken of. I don't know where the weather station you are using is but ours was right at the track 2-3 feet off the ground and in the shade, this is the air the motor is inhaling. Even after we left the track the temperature was 90-91 degrees.
According to the link you provided at 1:00 pm. the temperature peaked at 86 deg, according to our weather station we reached peak temperature 99 deg. at 3:00 pm.
Here is more data:
At 12:06 97 deg, +2,600 DA.
60'=1.558
10.91 @ 128.42
At 3:34 96 deg, +2,500 DA.
60'=1.597
10.95 @ 128.73

Julio - Thanks for the response. I've never seen that big of a discrepancy between reported conditions and what was reported at the track. But, you're right, I was not there. Onyx brings up very valid points, but you had it in the shade already. no harm no foul

Trevor D, if you get a chance, next time you go to the track on a hot sunny day with no wind, take temperature readings in the shade and compare them to the weather reports temperatures. ATCO has allot of asphalt covered pit/parking area, it's a big track. You can verify that the temps at the track will be much higher.

Re: CARTEK 415CID LS1 C5
I race quite a bit, and I always compare my weather computer to www.wunderground.com. I've seen up to a 5 degree difference before, but it's typically within 2-3 degrees of my readings. When I went racing a week ago this past Sunday, my weather computer showed 96 degrees in the shade at the hottest time of the day compared to 91.4* from wunderground.com. Like I say, there are definitely some variances. Either way, the C5 is still scooting down the 1/4 nicely, and it only has quicker and faster to go. My intention was not to take away from the 10-second slip of your newest beast, so please don't take it that way.
Congrats on an awesome setup.

Re: CARTEK 415CID LS1 C5
Julio,Thanks again for all the POWER!!!!!!!All the hard work you guys put in paid off,you guys at Cartek are the best.The drivability of the car is excellent,better than stock,Last weekend I drove it to and from both Atco and E-town and all over in between.It runs so cool with the cooling mods you did that I'm tempted to put 3.42's in it and road race it somewhere down the road.I can't wait until you have time to play with that new intake and put the 1 7/8 headers on.

Re: CARTEK 415CID LS1 C5
Cartek is dynoing the new 1-7/8 headers tomorrow,there's a definite power/torque increase in the mid-range on the street,we'll see how they do overall.Latest ET update is 10.72 at 128 with a 1.54 60ft with me driving and the new 1-7/8 headers and a 28-in tire.The car went 10.71 at 130 before the 1-7/8 headers and 110lb lighter driver.I'm switching back to a 26-in tire,the 28's put me too far under my power peak at the end of the run.
