Di you purchase just the rockers or is it the full kit with studs, guideplates and pushrods? (part # 144759-16). You need all the parts of this part # to make the rockers work. Some parts places don't understand this and just sell the 144759A-16 which is incomplete for install. Here is a link to the adjustment procedure.

Joe is correct. If you have the kit I can help walk you through the installation if you have questions.

Question Crane Gold Adjustable Rockers Noise?

I installed the complete "kit" of the Crane Gold 1.8 ratios. At first start-up & first couple hours of street run time, most just around town city traffic with a few first gear high RPM runs, all was noise-less. Now I am getting, what seems like, some rocker noise. Nothing radical, like all of them are making noise, maybe just a couple of them? It is the same whether hot or cold running. Anyone ever have this situation? Do these rockers have to be babysat? Thanks for anyone elses experience & input. Gar

If the jam nut backs off they will loosen. Did you turn both at the same time on the final tightening sequence?

Default Crane Rockers

Vettenuts...I honestly don't remember, cause its been a while. I do believe I Lok-Tited them though. Which I don't think they want you to do? I have every strength lok-tite they make & probably used the high temp version. Thanks, Gar

When you first start the engine after the installation it's probably going to be very noisy for the first couple of minutes. Don't panic. It will gradually become quieter until the clatter subsides. That's if you have the preload set correctly. If the lifters are OEM you go about 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn after zero lash. You stop at zero when using Comp Rs.

After thoroughly cleaning the threaded holes in the heads, red loctite is used on the Crane studs when installed with the guide plates. Then you need to wait overnight to start the rocker arm installation to ensure the loctite is holding.

Each 1/4 turn = .015 of preload. Set to zero lash and go from there. I have my Morels at three 1/4 turns + the 1/8 tightening turn.

i would follow roger/joe's procedure. they helped crane come up with the whole rocker arm adjustment procedure. i have installed several sets of these rocker arm kits, and you must follow the corect procedure, or you will have nothing but problems and improper preload.

agree with above. follow the instructions to a t. the vast majority of issues come from too much initial pre-load. zero is that, no lash. it is very easy to go beyond zero lash and unknowingly load the lifter.
