Lost keeper, need help ASAP!
Was driving down the interstate at 2300 rpm's and broke a spring for some reason unknown(CC 918, probably didnt break em in right). Pulled the valve cover and saw the broken spring and found the retainer but no keepers. What should be my next step?
The rocker arm looks like it was about to come apart also? What is wrong with my car? The pushrod was straight as an arrow. MMS 224 cam.

Bad luck my friend Not many broken CC918 springs reported yet. More than likley the keepers have ended up in the lifter bore valley. You should be able to retrieve them with a flexable magnet. Do not leave them in the engine! Anytime you suffer a broken valve spring, always change the rocker arms. Even if the rocker arm looks ok change it. You'll save yourself from problems later
Good luck,

The keepers should have ended up in the lifter valley. It may be possible to collect them with a magnet on a flexible handle. If that doesn't work, you'll have to pull the intake and cover. They shouldn't have gone any deeper into the motor than that. Leaving them in can cause further damage later.

I think there is definately a bent valve. I still have to get home (130 miles). Is it ok to drive with a bent valve? The car runs, but poorly. It has several misfires on #7, but the bad valve is on the 3rd cyclinder back on the drivers side. Which one is that?

Re: Lost keeper, need help ASAP!
I put one of the MMS springs I had in my trunk on. I also used new keepers and a new rocker arm.
I pushed the valve up and down and it kinda catches. If I turn the valve 90*, it is smooth as silk? WTF? I put the valve in the position where it kinda sticks and put the new spring on(no air here). I think the valve is sticking too badly for the car to run properly(considering the situation). I am gonna spin it to the position where it doesnt catch and try to put the spring back on. Maybe I wont drop the valve, we'll see.
I found one keeper and about 1/2 of the other. Gonna check in the oil pan after I get her home. Come to think of it, I am just gonna wait til I get home to do anything else.
