the only reason i see them as a good deal is because they come with the 02 LS6 valves. these things are like $42 a piece. who knows about flow.

LS6 CNC Ported Assembled Aluminum Cylinder Heads
Price: $990.50
Part # 12480176
Best buy on the planet! Unbelievable performance from fully CNC ported cylinder heads. Some of the best low and mid-lift numbers we have ever seen from a stock size valve. These heads will flow over 200cfm at 0.300" lift and 290+ at 0.500". Fully assembled with the 2002 Z06 light-weight valves and the new '02 valve springs. These heads have been milled 0.055" to bring the combustion chambers back down to approximately 60cc. Care must taken to check pushrod length and proper intake installation when using these cylinder heads. Price is for each cylinder head.
****
What compression does 60cc imply?
I think stock LS6 heads are around 64cc and 10.5 compression.

What's the deal with the push rods and intake?

any intake will do. sounds like some 7.35" pushrods would be best, but a shop would know for sure. 60cc is like 11.2:1 or so i think...maybe just 11:1.

Is LPE's porting any good? The LS1 heads and cam package they advertise isn't very impressive compared to MTI and other players.

I plan to use a set of custom pistons with a -10cc dish that will get my CR back down to 10.1:1. I mainly wanted them for their flow rates and see if a stock cam will work well with it. Maybe use SLP 1.85:1 roller rocker arms with them. I also want to go FI with this, but not sure if turbo or ATI D-1SC. Any inputs?

Just rambling...
LS6 heads are already proven to make power over LS1 heads without porting or milling. With the lighter valves, you don't have run as heavy a spring, maybe pick up a few ponies from drag.
I'd guess these would make great daily driver heads with gains all across the board. The down side being the higher compression.
Traditionally, GM Performance parts are great street parts with high quality, and few drawbacks.
I would guess your two problems with these would be the much higher compression (still run good on 91?) and getting custom pushrods. The combination of the longer valves, and the .055" mill job will probably require a much shorter pushrod.
But... I really don't have a clue. Should be good "sleeper" heads. Put in a '02 Z06 cam (blasphemy), leave the stock exhaust manifolds on the car (match the ports), and you could pass for stock. IF someone asks, just say "I'm running OEM parts...", as you push 360+rwhp. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I wonder what they charge for S&H?
GMpartsdirect charges: $2,175.60 for 2 of them including S&H ($362 for freight alone). What a
f@%ng ripoff gmpartsdirect is!

I still don't understand:
If these LS6 heads are ported by LPE and they are $990 each or right at $2000 for both, why are the LS1 heads advertised on his website $1500 each or $3000 for the pair? In other words, LS6 heads are $1000 cheaper? Is that much more work done to the LS1's? Are valves that much?
I'm confused.

i think the GT2 is the C5R. cant remember. just because John says LPE ports them doesnt make them law. Ask Joseph who works at SDPC or SDPC themselves. Sorry John.
