So with the new lower cost of the crank (we'll approximate $1000 with all the shipping and freight, ect), what other expences are involved with doing a stroker. It was mentioned you need new pistons and rods. What about machining the block or any other labor associated with the block.
The reason I ask is I am trying to compare the cost and benefits with doing an all bore 382 vs. a stroked 383.
Thanks

Help me understand what's involved for a TRUE Budget stroker.
Cranks $1000
Does the block require machining to get the new crank to fit? If so where? What's that going to cost? $100?
Custom pistons hyperuretic similar to stock in compression etc that will work with the stroker crank. What's pistons going to cost? $500?
Balancing a set of stock rods with custom pistons and crank. What that going to cost? $100?
ARP rod bolts, rings, and other stuff for the bottom end. What will that cost? $200?
In other words, if a friend and I bolt this thing together can I do the bottom end for around $2000 including the crank.

Now how you going to do a stroker with stock rods and pistons?
The damn pistons will come out the damn block.
You are going to minimally going to have to replace the crank and pistons.

These Nodular crankshafts are 4" stroke only.
The Billet 4340 cranks available next year will be any stroke you want.
I will have to find out about the trigger wheel, but I don't think so.
Any more takers, or questions?? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
And BTW, anyone know for sure if an LS1 will take more than 4.25" stroke??
Cheers.

Nu-Tek is going to be selling the Cola crank for $2195. For that price I would go with Lunati. Nu-Tek is also selling a Callies crank for $1995, but I wonder if it is a forged 4340 billet crank. Here is the link to Nu-Tek, look for the LS1 at the bottum of the page;

In the Aug 2002 issue of Popular Hot Rodding, on page 18, there is info about a new billet LS1 crankshaft from L.A. Enterprises.
"They are precision CNC-machined from a 300-pound pice of billet Kryptonite steel, then specially processed for ultimate strength and performance. These new custom billet LS1 cranks can also be custom-designed to your specs, and can be delivered in as little as four weeks."
