427, stage 2 or 3 LS6 heads, and a cam that would live nicely on the street.
Any examples of such a motor here? Would the power be similar to the 422? Lets here some examples, or guesses.

With a semi-mild "street" cam, something like the MTI R1 (232/237) cam, a 422/427 should make 480 rwhp with LS1 heads, and very close to 500 rwhp with LS6 heads. Big motors love LS6 heads, they are worth the extra cash on big motors.

How could someone be close to 500 with the R1?

Ha, ha Mark. I'm thinking that a mellow 500 hp motor would be nice, and a 150-200 shot on top of that would make for a nice street setup. Plus should be good for an occasional low 10 sec, high 9 sec ride..
Just thinking for now. Anyone have a 427, & how is it doing?

Miles, I have a 244/244, LS6 heads, and:
500 rwhp thru the dual-dual muffler
525 rwhp thru cutouts and a small 2.5" Y-pipe
-pushing a 12-bolt with 4.10s
-pushing a heavy steel Denny's driveshaft
-pushing heavy WS6 wheels/tires
My dyno numbers are somewhat misleading

My cam is the MTI "S1"
Same cam that Colonel ("Sanders1") and PaiN are running in their 422ci setups. Also the same cam that is in No Mercy's 9-second vette.
Colonels and PaiN's motors are making around 520-530 rwhp with open headers. No Mercy's made 509 rwhp thru the corvette exhaust.

Hopefully we can get the car to hook. I think that with the suspension that my shop made for the car it should hook. We made a new torque arm that doesnt mount to the tranny.
