Default MMS 388 dyno results

99 C5. Yank 3000, 3.15 gears, TPIS headers, 388 all-bore, 229 cam, LS6 intake (unported), stock cats, B&B Touring catback, 30lb SVO injectors. Motor has maybe 100 miles, new transmission is really tight, so it will pick up some more power.

Not bad for stock cats and an unlocked converter. I was hoping you'd pull in the 425-430 range, so be sure to redyno after 3000 miles or so!

My best unlocked is around 420rwhp, but I'm also running an EWP, no cats, and open cutouts. My power band is also more top end based.

Best locked is 446rwhp.

nice dyno numbers, but i would think that a package that resembles terries package would make in the area of 450 RWHP (esp with that MMS dyno) - draw your own conclusions. LOL

the power you actually made with that combo looks very respectable, but if TB owned it that car would make atleast 465RWHP! cant wait to see how it performs with 1000 miles on it! get some track times!

With a slipping stock automatic it made 425rwhp and they hadn't finished tuning it. They said the new transmission needs to loosen up first. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this was unlocked. I'm going to check their programming with LS1edit and re-dyno with a wide band sensor once it's broken in.

Would high flow cats help much? 5rwhp, 15rwhp?

MMS Stage 3 heads opened up to 4.125" bore. I think they are 2.05 and 1.58" valves, could be 1.60s, don't remember for sure.

Dumping the cats could be worth 20 hp easily. I wouldn't bother with the high flow ones. On the other hand...it will really screw up your tuning.

They have yearly emissions tests in Atlanta so I can't ditch the cats. I thought good high flow cats are pretty close to running straight thru with no cats. ??

The Stage 3 heads are 2.10 and 1.60. I think you have a set of Stage 2 heads that are opened up for the big bore motor if your valves are that small.

RandomTech make a 3inch xpipe highflow cat combo that will fit your headers and greatly outflow the stock cats....should be worth 15-20hp on your set-up. You can see a pic at www.randomtechnology.com

I had Stage 2 heads and sent them back to be upgraded to full Stage 3 heads. There was a lot of additional port work beyond just opening the bore up.
