irregular cam bearing wear (pics)
i think thats the name of it...when i took my cam out, the metal part was unevenly worn. infact, i could see copper color on one section.
im guessing this isnt good? car is approaching 8K miles. what would cause this and should i be worried?

It certainly appears the bearing surface is worn away.
Have you ever noted oiling problems [failed pump, or low pressure]? How many miles on the engine, and how many on the engine and cam?
I would replace them before going any further.

Re: irregular cam bearing wear (pics)
the bearing could be installed the wrong way (misaligned or something), are all the bearings like that or is it just this one?
if i were you and the engine is out of the car , i'd take the block to a machine shop to check the bearings for straightness and /or install a new set.

There was scarring like that on the 1st and 2nd bearings, only had 10k miles on the car at the time. Shop went ahead and replaced both bearings.

The bearings were only about 40 bucks each, so I'd suggest you replace them. Especially if you're doing the work yourself, at least you don't get charged the extra labor like I did! I was just worried because the root cause of the scoring was never determined, so who's to say that 10k miles later, they won't be scored again.

Re: irregular cam bearing wear (pics)
well, i talked to tom izzo at speed inc. and he said that hes seen it on numerous LS1s, and even the whole thing worn on a few LT1s.
im guessing its the pos stock oil pump not doing a great job, and a few too many cold starts and driving before it gets warmed up good.
he suggested leaving it, and maybe getting a better oil pump.
