Default 75,000 miles and ......

well guys i just did a H/C swap on my 99 trans am that has over 75k on the clock.. Guess my question is what is a lot of miles for this motor?
i have been pretty hard on it since i have owned it but didnt do a single mod to it till feb of this year.... Now i have a set of 6.0ltr heads GTP 220 cam (had it laying around) FLP long tubes ford 9" LS6 intake... It feels like the swap really gave it a kick in the pants almost like it ran on the 100 shot of gas... but i still dont pull on people like i think i should... any ideas? What makes some just GO like mad and other just seem normal... A friend of mine just did a dyno of his 02 Z with only a lid and FLP long tubes with open Y and he pulled 350/360 and he had some issues at the time????

There are a lot of factors in your question:

Head Porter - Who did your heads
Cam - I bet it drives well. If it is power you seek, a larger cam would probably live better behind a set of FLP's and ported heads.
Tuning - A tune would work some magic for you.

Stock vs stock, a 02Z will pull harder than a 99Z. He has a leg-up on you already.

Good Luck

is anyone getting good numbers with a gtp220 cam? also the heads have 2.055/1.60 valves so i suppose a large cam would really wake these up..

The 9inch did not help you in the HP department bro.You are probably losing a good 15-20 hp through that. Also how much does your car weigh and what kind of cars are you running against.

I'd take her to a dyno for a current baseline, then do some tuning.

02's and i believe 01's have the LS6 intake and manifolds stock (I hate you guys ). So they do dyno better stock. BUT, a '98 say will pick up more hp with a header upgrade than an '01-02 because they have the better stock stuff(the LS6 guys). in the end i'm guessing a '02 vs say a '98 with the same mods would post about the same #'s.
