if properly adjusted, what are the benifits of a solid valvetran when compared to a hydraulic setup?

if properly adjusted, what are the benifits of a solid valvetran when compared to a hydraulic setup?

In a nutshell, you can run a much more aggressive camshaft, since you aren't so limited by spring pressure as in a hydraulic setup (too much spring pressure in a hydraulic setup will collapse the lifters). Usually the lobes on a solid roller cam are almost square-like in their shape. They open and close the valves very fast. A side perk is that idle quality and part throttle driveability are usually improved with the more aggressive solid roller cam, because of the fact that the valves are actually spending less time off the seat. The downside is the higher cost of components, and the additional maintenance required.
