Thanks Terry - I think the G5 cam is great...I never said otherwise and was very happy with it.

Comp 918 springs and Ti retainers are used on my heads, I installed them when I put the G5 in and just left 'em there. I couldn't tell ya the longevity, but I'll probably just swap the springs out at 15-20K miles if for nothing else but piece of mind. I haven't done a MPG test...

I don't know how much more controlled the test could have been. The only thing varying between the two sets of runs was the temp and the cams, the temp was definitely in the G5's favor!

All you DFW boys need to go sit in the penalty box LOL!

Who is this FAStech shop? Sure would be nice to have some contact info from them...as a sponsor. Until then, I guess anyone that wants an "F1" cam can buy the nearly identical MTI X1 cam (with the LGM lobe ) from our sponsors. Haha.

Oh yeah, I've created a new shop, its called Tony's Super Awesome LS1 Badass Engines and I have the best of the best of the best cam ever designed. None of you can buy it though, because I haven't raked up enough dough to afford to advertise it here LOL.

Start a new thread if you wish, this one is just a little off track...

Damnit Lou, I don't think you could have made yourself anymore of a vagina than you just did.

Stop trying to confuse the weak minded with your stupid babble......Tamu did a REAL WORLD TEST to see what you could expect from each cam. What more could someone want? The F1 cam, or whatever you want to call it, has performed very well in every car I have seen mentioned. Its a good grind, and you know it. Instead of you and your mini-me son crying on the internet this fine sunday, go pull another grind out your azz and hope it works.

ROTFLMAO at Cmarsh. I can still remember going to LGM with my buddy Joel Hester and talking with Scott about how there was no way that C Marsh had a heads/cam 93Z making 400+rwhp, it HAD to be a stroker. LGM's sroker motors weren't making as much power as Chris' heads/cam car.

What really proved things for me about LGM was when they built Joels 355 with an S-trim. Boy that was a screamer.

Good to see LGM hasn't changed in the last few years. To me that test sounds very legit. It was done the same day on the same car.

Hey matt, i wasnt trying to make more comparison between the "G5" and "F1" (i absolutely LOVE these cam names...by the way if FASTech comes out with 3 more they will have to jump to F5 since the F4 is taken by Futral...lol), i was making more of a blanket statement about the duration of the cam (or any cam like it). kinda like if i said that the G5 would work better on the hose. I could easily say that the reverse splits work better in limited intake situation and fill the cylinder better at high rpms. i wasnt meaning to add fuel to the flame.

curious, why did FASTech merge with SpeedTek? i came up to speedtek to pick up an NX kit a while back and noticed you fastech folk working (acutally just sean at the time). then i heard about the "merger" so to speak.

Jim,

Since your G5 numbers were always lower than the norm, the difference could have come from Comp, with a minor difference in the intended Center line. It would not be the first time we have found a minor difference.

Chris,

You have only been a thorn in your own side, since you are just as dumb now as you were in 96.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Thank you , and move to the end of the line.

Lou,

I don't understand. It seems that no matter what you are going to have something to complain about. No matter what test is done you will have some reason for how you are getting cheated.

We made 3 pulls with each cam, we dynoed on the same dyno on the same day. Unlike your dyno there is no way for us to manual enter the weather statistics. So there was no way to cheat there either.

You just need to admit defeat. The G5 was one of the most powerful cams available for the LS1 for a while, but now it has been surpassed. Like you said someday the F1 will be passed also......

Also I really don't think it matters that you once used a lobe that the F1 uses, it is too bad you didn't use it in the correct combo or you might have come up with this cam

You seem to take things way to personal when someone out does you. We are supposed to be trying to produce the most power we can, and that means that we have to try new things.........I am sure that you will come out with a cam that can produce equal or better numbers, but until that day admit when someone has produced a superior product..........

I think the comparison was great.., but I do not think it proved which cam was better.. Looking at the dyno both cams are nice.. I also looked at Jason99ta dyno.. Looks like he has you both beat down low.. Anyway.. My point is some cams work better with some heads. I am sure you will find an example where the G5 is going to dyno higher in somebodies heads.. Logic dictates that most of the time if you go with a bigger cam it will peak higher.. That is what this comparison showed me.. I am really concerned about how other tuners treat each other.. We are all in it for the fun.. When you bash another you in turn try to hurt another persons ability to feed their family. Thats not good.. Sometime after reading post like this it makes me want to call up Comp Cams to have them grind me my own cam.. Just so I wont get into a debate of whos cam is better..
