Correction: The record for rainfall in a 24 hour period is held by Alvin, Texas @ 43 INCHES!!!

That record is disputed (42.xx inches I think), but I tend to believe it. It is disputed because the measurement was not "official", which for 1979 was only the National Weather Service and airport observing sites. The degree of flooding, the weather situation, and surrounding observations were consistent with this rainfall amount, so I believe it.
The Friendswood people were not straight on that rainfall amount. That amount in 2.5 to 3 hours is completely believable.
Oh well, thats why we pay sooo much money for insurance(in case **** happens). Good luck with it.
