Re: More 6.0L questions
5.7 / 346 = x / 409 (or 422) solve for x <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
~6.66Ls for the 409 and a 422 is ~7.0Ls
so is this nodular crank from australia the only other option as of now that we have for going to a stroker besides lunati? or does lunati make any cranks that may not be forged but aren't an insane price??? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

More 6.0L questions
I read in GMHTP magazine that you can get a 6.0 block for $700. With a 4.060 bore and a 4.0" stroke you can get 409 cubes. Prostockjon said something about a 4.075 offset and I have no idea what that is but it gives you almost 422 cubes. I'm wondering what is needed to build this motor. Obviously you would need a crank and new pistons. I would not use my stock cam but if I wanted to could I use my stock cam and heads? What else could you not salvage from your current LS1? I'm just wondering how cheaply I could step up to some serious cubic inches in case I suddenly need to get my motor rebuilt. I would rather step up than repair the puny 346. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Re: More 6.0L questions
All parts from your stock LS1 are interchangeable. You would actually get 408.something (round up to 409...)cubic inches with a 4.030" bore and a 4" stroke crank.
That is the setup I have.

Re: More 6.0L questions
See the article in Vette mag last june or july. ..they built a iron blocked LS1 to 421CI. they said all heads, pullys, etc bolted right on...
...the real issue here is weight, however. the IRON block is 100lbs more!!

Re: More 6.0L questions
Where did you see the 6.0 L bare block for $700. I was told at my local dealer it was 2700. Told her I wanted the bare block and she said that was the price. I would prefer to pay 700 and step up to 6.0 L iron myself.
Thanks

Here is one on ebay with forged pistons (for a 375ci motor/stock crank) for $200. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: More 6.0L questions
hey john, dont you mean 364ci for stock displacement 6.0L?
offset grind the crank to 3.71 with a 4.03 bore and that would net you 378ci

Re: More 6.0L questions
I have rods and pistons for a 6L build up for sale. Setup for a 4.125" stroke and 4.030 bore. Lunati rods (pro billets) and ROSS pistons. Email if you want to work something out. I had them post in the for sale section.

BTW they are new

Re: More 6.0L questions
Stock 6.0 is a regular 4.000 bore.
Our stock LS1's are 3.900 bore but with a lot more stroke from the factory than previous SBC-typ GM engines.
NOW, I have a 422ci iron block.
bore x stroke = engine size
4.060 x 4.075 - 422ci
I'd just look for a used truck block not a new one. Stock 6.0 is a 377ci motor. You could bore it out .030 and offset grind the crank and make it even bigger.
