Default How hard is it to change rod bolts on a C5 with the engine in the car?

How hard is it to install Katech rod bolts on a C5 with the engine still in the car? I did mine with the engine out, and it was a piece of cake. Is there a how to website or anything? I didn't see anything on LS1howto.com. Thanks guys!

I've seen it done be for. If you have a lift it really helps. They dropped the front cross member containing all the stearing linkage and spindles. Droped the oil pan and remove the removed the rod bolts and turned the engine by hand to get to the rest of the rod bolts. I'm not realy familiar with the Vetts buts thats all they told me. I guess the owner of the car was running to much boost and messed up a piston or two and they were pulling them and replacing them with forged, with the engine still in the car. Hope this gives you some help.

That seems kinda silly to me to change rods and pistons without even honing it...

The heads were off... they could have dropped them in from the top.

That seems like way more trouble than just pulling the engine.

Naw... once you figure in the torque tube and having to deal with removing the rest of the driveline to get the engine out it's a real pain in the ***. With an F-body where you can just pull the driveshaft and get the trans down with the engine sure, but unfortunately not in this case.

It's a small shop and there's only 2 people working there. So I guess the way they did it for them work fine.
