Yeah some cars keep making power up to 7400 and the bottom end can handle that, but if your car peaks at 6100. Then set your shift light to 6100 and call it a day!
You should always shift a few hundred rpm PAST peak power for best results. My car peaks at 6400, and I tested out diff shift-lite rpms and found 6700 to give the fastest trap speeds/ETs. If you shift RIGHT AT peak, your leaving performance on the table

thats why thunder shifts the t-rex cam only car at 7400, cam peaks around 7000 but they are still making more power between 7-7.4 as oppose to shifting right at 7 and dropping to a lower rpm. keeps the rpms in the power band more.

im looking for a cam thats going to hopefully make good power in the 7000-7400 rpm range, something i can shift about 7500-7700rpms, i need to do some research to get my little 346 screamin for this season.

I'm running a Comp XE 244/248 .598/.598 115 on stock 3.42's. Unbearable in traffic. Decent on the highway. Screams in the uppers. I find myself living on the rev-limiter when horsing around or racing.

I run a 242/248 .625 on a 114 lsa, stock cubed LS6, didn't flycut the pistons until I had the heads done. Daily drives incredibly well. Idles like its pissed off, very nasty and sounds like victory.

Power band is 3300-6500, idles at 900 without stumble or hesitation, its a perfect cam for me, would only change the LSA to 110-112.
