I've see several TEA stage 2 packages make well over 400 rwhp. One with LS6 intake and 6.0 heads made 420rwhp. Another with a 230ish cam and 5.3 heads made 435rwhp or so. For the cost and what you get I think TEA will be hard to beat. I plan to call them soon and discuss details.

Maybe others can add details of what TEA is like to deal with.

TEA's LS-1 program has come a long way in the past year,of course building up a name is hard to do.
When you consider there reputation in the Ford circle,
"The 2000 EFI/R champion Bob Kurgan ran a set of Twisted Wedge heads from TEA, as well as a TEA ported Holley Systemax intake. The 2001 runner up and fastest EFI/R racer on the planet Bart Tobener has run a 8.928/150.30 using TEA Twisted Wedge heads."
Not to mention Larocca,Haverman and Murillo. They do top notch work.
I think TEA is at the top of there game. I also think there are some other great companies on the board,GTP,MTI etc.
But for the money I would go with TEA.

Anyone know if the TR 220 or TR 224 cam will work well with the TEA 5.3 heads?

both of those cams would work well with TEA heads,as well as the 222/222 cam that TEA first came out with.
They also seem to respond well to reverse splits I would consider a thunder 227/224 cam with them.I think the power would be excellent and then you could also mill the head .030 for more compression.

I put a list togather from the info I got over the phone from TEA. Anyone that wants a price breakdown sheet on TEA heads can e-mail me. This info shows all the machine work and parts broke down individually. VERY good prices....

BTW, I was told they use the same CNC profile program on all there LS1 5.7 heads. The only thing that differentiates between Stage 1 and Stage 2 is valve size and type. Same CNC port area.

I will say this their prices are good and they are responsive to calls and questions. To me thats the first step for good customer service. I have spoken to Brian and Brent and they take the time to go over your setup with you. Once I get the heads and get them on and dynoed we'll know how good the heads are. I'm betting with my wallet they'll be good.

I'll vouch for em....I got 73rwhp/29rwtq not fully tuned with their stage 2 5.3L heads/TR 230/224 cam.

I'm only running 10.8:1 compression too. Not much of a compression bump because of our crappy gas.

I got every option (double springs comp 987, titanium retainers, etc..)and got those on a stage II port job for half the money of a GTP/MTI head.

I only got charged $50 for the 5.3L upgrade, nothing additional over standard cost for the titanium retainers and comp double springs.

Overall I'm happy with my results for such a low compression, unfinalized tuning, 12 bolt 33 spline 3.73 rear end, etc....

I have their stage 1 heads. The only differences between Stage 1 and 2 are the valves.

I picked up quite a bit with them, can't think of the number exactly but it was like 80 rwhp with the heads, 222/222 cam and mac headers.

I have stock valves and my CR is only 10.5:1 (again, check my website). So I did really well compared to other heads that have larger CR's than me.

You can read about it on my website.

-When you install 5.3L heads on a 5.7L motor, does it affect your piston-to-valve clearance at all? (assuming no milling/stock gaskets) I was wondering if, since the head was smaller, the valves were closer to the pistons in any way.

-How much compression jump going 5.3 to 5.7 (once again assuming no milling)? Still OK to run 92 Octane with full stock timing at WOT, or does it need to be "tuned down" any?

That's all for now...I'm probably 6 months away from heads/cam, but I've got plans...ohhh I've got plans.

Thanks
