I have a pair of these heads, there over a year old. Now I just recently bent my valves so I am replacing them and I ordered the same ones that were in there. There were from rev. 2.02/1.57 But when I called to get new valve guides for these 8mm stem valves, agostino told me that there stock guides????? He advertises bronze guides does he not? Is this because I have older heads and they have changed there ways since then? What am I missing here. I know I have 2.02 /1.57 cause I measured then and there defintely ported. What do you guys think.

I need to clear something. I have no issues with my heads. I just want to know if the stock ones are good enough. And I noticed the stage 1 dont say that, good catch.

All the stage 1 heads have the "factory" valve guides unless they are worn and we put a bronze liner in them like we do on all the stage 2 and 3 stuff. We mostly put the liners in the 2's and 3's to set the guide clearance as the valve stem diameter on the larger valves in these heads are a bit smaller(.001-.002") and require the liner to make things right. There is really nothing better about the bronze liner except that you can run the guide clearance tighter and this "usually" lets the valve job hold its conformity a bit longer; not much of diff.
the factory LS1/LS6 guides are great and need not to be changed unless faulty.
We also mostly use bronze liners and not a bronze guide, there is a diff. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
