Default TR230/224 111 with GTP Stage 2 heads?

Will there be any piston to valve clearance problem with this set up or other problems I may not know? I ordered, GTP Stage 2 heads 2.020/1.570 valves, single coil 918 springs, 772 titanium retainers and 7.400 pushrods. My original plan was to go with the TR224 cam, but I really like the power the TR230/224 .569/.563 111 cam is making and it sounds mean!

hmm I think it will be a great setup if it doesn't cause any P to V problems
Good luck with it!

I spoke to Paul @ Thunder when I ordered this cam, and he wasn't very confident in milling heads with this cam. Being on a 111 lsa, the clearance is very tight already, and milling even at .010 or .020 may put you at risk of needing to fly cut the pistons...

We will be doing this very shortly and will post the results. However, we do expect the clearance on the intake valve to be very tight.

If the clearance is acceptable, look to see some dyno results with a set of GTP stg 2s with this cam pretty soon.

I will bet 100 bucks that it will clear.Unless of course he is using 5.3 heads then I would seriously question it.But if they are 5.7 heads get ready to pay up everyone. My reasoning for saying this is that if the heads are 5.7 heads then John campbell has his heads milled 60thous and has a 224/224/ dur and 581/581 lift 112lsa with no piston to valve clearance. Now if his heads arent milled at all well...do the math=plenty of room for that cam.But only if they are 5.7 heads.Sorry for misleading info earlier but I wasnt sure which heads you were talking about.

duration has more impact on PV clearance than lift and this cam has a whopping 6 more degrees of duration

I'm betting it will be tight...remember you want to maintain ~.090" of PV clearance minimum.

We haven't been able to check PtV clearance since we didn't have any cams in stock. A new batch just arrived two days ago and we will be looking into checking clearance real soon.
