highest 5.3 head compression?

highest 5.3 head compression? Wouldnt the highest compression you can run safely on pump gas be what they are at. The 5.3 heads bump compression up a point and stock is 10 so wouldnt these be 11:1. I figure possibly i could get them milled 30 still though but i am not sure. Let me know if getting them milled would still be a safe move for 93 octane or will this create detonation a WOT. Also still needs to beable to get in street races <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Re: highest 5.3 head compression? There is more than meets the eye.. Cam choice is important as well.. If you go to high on the compression you will need a huge cam to bleed off some compression to be able to run on pump gas..
Re: highest 5.3 head compression? Huge cam.. Take my advice.. It is not worth the trouble. You will not see that much of a difference from 11.3:1 to 12.1:1 unless you are running race gas... I would stick with what everyone else is doing.. Look how big of a cam Fireball is running to bleed off 11.8:1...

with 11.8:1, I'm still leary on 93 octane laying into it in 4th gear.

Also weight, gear and cooling will have an impact.
With the bigger SLP radiator, the JPR EWP using reverse flow cooling, low temp stat, lower fan settings and 4.10's, might be able to get away with a little more compression with the same cam, than without.
