Hey 463rwhp LG naysayers I challenge you!!!
Hey it's me Admin. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
I challenge all the naysayers.
If any stock bottom end 346ci naysayer dynoed over 430rwhp, I challenge you to post all your mods, dyno #'s, and best et and mph.
Here is my point. It's easy to scoff at numbers. Let's take this opportunity to play devil's advocate, and look at how to make the number make sense.
Maybe some of you guys drop the mufflers, run a shortbelt, have the world's biggest fan blowing into the airbox, or have some 13.5:1 AF's combined with some very aggressive timing...
Can any of you 430-450rwhp 346ci guys tell me how much your combo would gain with LS6 heads? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
What is Tamu's best MPH with his new cam? Does he have headers? Does he race at sea level?
I see local 02 Z06's dyno ~360-370rwhp bonestock as a benchmark for me.
I challenge all the naysayers.

Re: Hey 463rwhp LG naysayers I challenge you!!!
I only got 420RWHP on MTI's stage 2 LS6 heads and X1 cam with all of the bolt ons. And yes thats through a 10 bolt. But I think my flowmaster probably killed a couple pony's. I have absolutly no reason to doubt LG about thier numbers. Its called evolution, with a combonation of science and technology. One day one company has the big product and a couple years later due to competition another company comes out with the next best thing.

I have the 5.3L heads, milled .010. After testing cc's the compression came out to 10.8:1.
I figure going from 10.8:1 to 11.0:1 would yield around 3-4hp tops.

I'd see MAYBE 7-10 RWHP from LS6s IMO figuring I'm running near 12:1 compression <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" />

I first thought a decent rule of thumb is about 3-4% hp gains per point of compression added?...but I guess its more like 2%
Well, on a car with 440rwhp, a full point of compression using the 3-4% rule would be between 13.2 and 17.6rwhp gained. Multiple those gains by 20% (to measure for the .2 of a point added), and you get about a 2.6rwhp to a 3.5rwhp gain. I'm an accountant, I round numbers, therefore my 3-4rwhp gain at most statement.
If it is really only like 2%, then I'm way off, and it'd be more like a 1.5-2hp gain.

Re: Hey 463rwhp LG naysayers I challenge you!!!
We made 452rwhp 422rwtq like we said before. Only we had a stock shortblock, truck ls1 heads, mac headers, full exhaust, and through a 9 inch. Our cam is a hydraulic roller and fits with stock pistons.
Kooks is sending us some stepped headers, and we are getting a TB from Shaner to replace the stock one. We will see how much power it makes and post the results also....

I'm waiting on track times.
463@ the wheels is awesome. That's all fine
and dandy.
Some one show me vehicle weight and trap speed.
That will shut everyone up.
If it makes quicker ET's,I'm all for it!
463/430 is not outrageous,it's not like LGM
is quoting 500/470 at the wheels.
I do wonder if the LS6 heads are the key.
Time will tell...... <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Re: Hey 463rwhp LG naysayers I challenge you!!!
I think Butchers #'s were like 339rwhp
with 150 miles on the car.(02 ZO6)
I remember him saying that almost all other 02 Zo6's dyno'd higher but ran slower times
with less MPH.
This was on FLP's dyno, which always dyno'd my
car lower(10rwhp)give or take.

I know the cartek LS6 X packages (stock bottom ends), are running 10.8x - 11.0x, in C5's pretty consistantly.
Heres some examples:
C5_Pig's
99 Black on Black HT, CARTEK X-Package, LS-6 manifold, TPIS headers, pulley, Vararam air intake,
Bilstein shocks,Hotchkis sway bars, Borla cat-back exhaust, and 4.10's gears.
DYNO #'s 449RWHP and 410RWTQ with 4.10 gears and DR's
E.T 10.80@127.44 with 1.47 60'
--------------------
Bill's
'00 FRC Black/Black
CARTEK X PACKAGE Heads/Cam
'02 Z06 Wheels, Borla Stinger XR, Mufflex Off-Road X-Pipe, TPIS LT Headers, Vortex Rammer, BPP Power Duct, ASP Pulley, Ported LS6 Intake, 160* Thermastat, CARTEK Clutch, 4.10 gears, Hardened Output Shaft, Bilstein Sport Shocks, Lowered 1", B&M Ripper, Wolfe 5-point Chromoly Rollbar, Sparco Harness, CCW Drag Package
Dyno at East Side Performance: 457rwhp, 419.9rwt

Compression is worth more power, the bigger the cam is. .2 or more can easily be 10 hp if cam brings rpm band up appreciably. Guys LS6 heads will free up at least 10 hp if ported right. There is not any feature about them that is not better than LS1 head. The bowls and tall short sides will be way more efficient at cylinder filling at all rpms than well ported LS1 castings.
In my opinion they are to LS1 castings what C5R castings are to LS6!
