Just replaced the cam and converter in my 99 TA and now my gas mileage has gone through the floor! I went from getting about 210-225 out of a tank to 125-130 and thats babying it the whole time Anybody got any suggestions?? if it makes a difference it was dyno tuned after the install...

when i did the converter I didnt notice but 1-2mpg drop

Well my stall is only a 2800 and the cam is a custom grind about the same size near the 224/224 cam. Even the shop that installed it said i should be getting 210-220. ?????

Ragtop,
havent run the TechII on it yet but i havent seen any signs of performance issues. So far, it runs great. really great. Jsut wondering if i should have expected this or not. wasnt thinking it would be this bad though. I knew it was going to drop but not this much...

I doubt it's the converter-not enough change.
In my case, going from stock to a 3500 stall lowered my town mileage drastically (w/2.73 rear).
On a long evening trip through the boonies recently, I got >28 mpg at an average of probably 80-90 mph, with (guessing) 30-40 miles cruising around 110-120:about a 220 mile trip.
When the converter locks,it's not costing any gas mileage.
What the cam and your tuning does, DK.

Around town my mileage is terrible, on the highway its still decent. When driving around town, try to get over 40 MPH or whatever speed the convertor locks up at. I try to accelerate a bit faster then normal to get up to that speed so I can avoid the tranny slipping for 30 seconds at a time....
