I thought on the stroker versus bore thread everyone said that strokers were only good a little over 6k but the bores were good for high 6k's? This is a good question. Means alot when deciding on gears and tires.

Re: You guys with 382 strokers... what do you rev to?
When all conditions are the same (same cam, same everything else), the peak HP of the all bore will be higher. I have the X1 cam and I am shifting at around 6500. My car peaks at 6000. I know if an all bore car puts in the same cam, they will peak at higher rpm (like 6300).
But, as far as a shifting point, I shift at 6500 (It all depends on what cam you have) because my car power goes down.

You rev a 422-434 to 7Krpm so why not a 382 stroker.
The stroke and rod length are often the same.
Piston speed is higher than an all bore/shorter stroke motor but there are thousands of 4+ inch stroke cars revving to 8K rpm. The dreaded ("I can't rev my 4 inch stroker over 6Krpm") is an internet myth LOL
Cheers,
Chris

I can turn my motor to 7000 RPM easily if I wanted to, but stop it at 6800 for safety margin. With a 4" stroke (words I never hope to hear from my wife )
Piston speed are obviously faster with a 4" stroke over the stock 3.6". However, assuming that the bearings and valvetrain are up to snuff, it does not seem that piston speed is the major rev limiter in LS1. Intake and other issues seem to happen first.
