I'm trying to set my car up to run strong on motor, but might also put nitrous on it in the future. I picked out my own specs.

Comp XER grind
581/581
228/228 @ .050
112 lobe sep
2 ground in

I think it should work good.

Are your heads milled? Who did you get the cam through?

Thanks

If a 230/224 111 LSA cam were best on motor and a 224/232 114 LSA were best on the spray, split the difference and go 227/227 113 and be done with it. Truthfully, either cam will meet your goals. A single pattern cam with a mild LSA just gives you the least number of compromises.

Why is LSA so important? I never have gotten a good grip on all this cam stuff <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

And how much can I mill heads with a 227/227 cam?

Usually a N20 cam likes more LSA, but if you want to error on the safe side for power you always go with less LSA. I would say a single pattern cam is the way to go. I would go smaller with a 224/224 or 222/222 and get some TQ out of the engine and have a 114 LSA, the N@0 should like that. If you just want a N20 cam then go with something that has more exh duration.

I have an MTI T1 cam right now, but have never sprayed it. I'd like something pretty agressive that will make 400+ rwhp NA, but still perform well on the bottle with a direct port setup.

All opinions welcome!

No to the TR224/114. My experience is not favorable with this cam. My hp gain was only a whopping 10 rwhp from 420 to 430 and the torque went down from 535 to 480. If I were to do it again I would go with the TR224/227/114. My goal is bigger NA numbers...so, in retrospect I am happy with the TR224.
Good Luck!

Flycut the pistons and go with a 232/236 114 +4 on XE-R lobes. That would probably haul a$$. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
