Default 422 which intake? ls1speed sheetmetal? spyder?

I am wondering which intake to get for my 422, the spyder seems too expensive, the one ls1speed sells sounds like a better deal at $1800 with rails.

or just get a ls6 intake?

what are all you 422 guys using?

PSJ - LS6 intake
Colonel - LS6 intake? i'm pretty sure
Speed Inc. shop car - 422(?) w/ ATI on it was running the sheetmetal intake, but i think they are switching back to the LS6 intake. you'd have to ask them for sure.

ls6 is what I would go with. That other 1400 dollars will be better spent elsewhere.

anyone have dyno results to compare between a sheetmetal intake and ls6? sounds like ls6 is the way to go.

I've seen and heard of various hit & miss results of testing with aftermarket intakes. For now I'm perfectly happy with my LS6 intake.

You'd think if the stock intake was soooo bad, it wouldn't be that difficult to design one that showed bit gains everywhere. I've yet to see it, though.

On the Dyno the LS6 intake looks a little better, the sheetmetal was more for blown enginges over 400ci ....

BUT on the track we have had the most luck with the sheetmetal intake.

It's a little early to tell

We are going to try a different design sheetmetal intake soon.

Yes, I've been running an non-port matched LS6 intake.

There was a company in Waterford, Michigan by me, that was developing a cast intake, similar to spped's sheetmetal, and they had no luck with it, they tried all kinds of different combo's on it, stock, h/c and a few others i believe, and it made less power than the LS6, Nick Agostino was at a seminar they gave, he will be able to vouch for the numbers the intake didn't make. As to whether they will try to design a different one, we haven't heard anything yet, the one nice thing, was that they were looking at around 800-1,000 dollar retail which would be nice, i still think 1,800 is too much, i'll just make my own for that much, i know a local guy that is awesome at this stuff, and built his own custom sheet metal int. for his Class 1 offshore BBC in his Nova.

MTI has had some luck with intakes on their solid roller 422s. From what I remember they lost lots of midrange and bottom tq for another 25 or so rwhp up top.

I know that the shorter length runners will produce less low end torque, but I would like to know how much.
