which cam with stock heads?
I don't have money for the heads right now but I am planning on putting an LS6 intake and I'd like to put a different cam in this winter.
There are so many different cams right now it makes my head spin. What should I be looking for in a cam for a stock headed motor? The car already has SLP longtubes 3inch y-pipe and slp dual dual so it shouldn't have any problem flowing on that end.
Thanks

Tell me more of what you're wanting from a cam. Are you an A4 or M6? Will you get custom tuning, or does it have to work with stock tuning? Are you wanting something stealthy with respect to idle, or do you want a cam with a rough, lumpy idle? How high are you wanting to rev the engine? Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like.

I vote for my MTI C1 (hammer) cam. My car was tuned by Jayson at MTI, but its my everyday driver on stock heads. I am very happy with it.

Re: which cam with stock heads?
ok sorry I should have elaborated more....
It's an M6 car. I would like something that will be friendly with stock tuning. I will obviously be changing springs and pushrods so I was thinkin revin it out to 6300-6400. Is that too much? I don't want the cam to be blantly obvious but a little lope is alright. I am just looking for some consistant numbers deep into the 12's. Thanks

I vote TR224 on a 114LSA. I got an A4 and look what it did for me
Hardly no issues either.
Good luck, Stu

One other thing: What kind of tires are you running?
Oh, and did you re-set your idle? To what RPM?
Thanks.

Re: which cam with stock heads?
Being that you have an M6, you can get away with more on stock tuning vs. an A4. I had a Comp XE-R 224/224, .581"/.581", 112 LSA in my SS for quite a while, and it was GREAT. The ET in my sig was with this cam. I've since moved on to a 228/228 XE-R on a 111 LSA. The 224/224 cam was the best street/strip cam that I've had yet. You could tell that there was a cam installed, but it wasn't too radical by any means. You'll be fine on stock tuning, but you're going to need an HPP3 to bump your rev limiter up. Shifting at 6300-6400 won't be a problem at all. I'm now shifting at 6,800! If you're wanting something a little stealthier, then a 220/220 would work well, too. You will sacrifice a little power, but it won't be much. It just depends on if you're fine with a little more lope to get a few extra HP across the powerband.

Re: which cam with stock heads?
how much of an advantage is the TR224/224 112 over the TR224/224 114? I have a hypertech already so the rev limiter is not a problem. I've seen the dyno graph on TR's website for the TR224/224 112 and that is pretty much where I want to be at. Is the 112 a big advantage over the 114?
