Default 4.00" and 4.125" Crankshafts, when do you use which?

I saw there is a special on crankshafts.

Just wondering when you use a 4.00" rather than a 4.125". I saw nineball's 434CI uses a 4.00". Is one preferred over the other due to the bore / stroke ratio.

with a 6.0 liter block bored .30 over?

a 4.125 stroke wont fit on a 346 CI block. The 4.125 will fit on your bored 6.0 block though I believe. The difference is for the 382 stroker, the 4.00. And then for big bore engines can keep the bore and stroke ratio closer with the 4.00 stoke or just use the bigger one to gain more cubes.

Bigger the stroke=More cubes, less rev extention, and more TQ

Man and when i asked about the 4.125 crank everyone told me it wouldnt fit. I thought there was a clearance issue with the bottom of the cyl wall.

Sweet looks like i am going to be using the <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" /> then. Now this just changes my whole set up.

Yes not only would it be advisable but a great way to get 421 cubes and GOBS of TORQUE with the .030overbore and .4125 crank with the LQ4. As we speak, MTI is building me this exact engine but with 4.060 overbore with the above stroke for a total of 427 beautiful CUBIC INCHES! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
