Default Purchased ported heads.Questions within/Update with flow numbers and link with pics.

I am concerned with the porting on the intake runner. The cathedrall(sorry of spelling) on the intake port is taken out. I haven't seen this done before. I tried a head porter out of missouri that claims to do work for NASCAR/PRO 5.0 cars. I was wondering if anyone has pics of their heads so I can compare.

I can probably get pics and email them to someone to see what you guys think.

I had heads flowed yesterday. They flowed like 245@.500 and 268@.600 To say the least I'm disappointed. I had them flowed by RGR. He said they were the worst LS1 head he has flowed. They flowed less than stock at the low lift numbers also. The velocity was also poor. The porter said they flowed 286@ .600.

Can anyone host the pics??

I'm trying to get a refund on them now. When I buy a new set of heads I'm definetly going with a sponsor.

Got those on ebay?
I have seen those advertisements on there as well. I thought about them for about a minute... But I just don't trust about 95% of the stuff on that site. If I were you I would try to get a refund and send them back. Spend the money on a set of heads from one of the sponsors. You would be much better off with a milder "Stage 1" set completed by a competent LS1 tuner than a Stage 3 style "hogging" by someone less knowledgeable.

Just my $0.02

I've learned my lesson now about buying from a non sponsor. I buying a set of TEA 5.3 heads in the near future.

Ha, I talked with a local head porting shop who is getting into LS1's last week. They are having a nice introductory price so I e-mailed them with questions. I told them about my setup. They almost demanded that I get rid of my single pattern cam. Said I would be losing alot of power with it, and that people buy them because heads from all other LS1 head porters have their a/f all screwed up. They promised me that I would make over 500fwhp with their heads and a split pattern. They know a guy who used to work for GM who has a secret grind lol. They also told me that there was no way to run double springs because the way the LS1 head is designed they cannot machine the spring pockets. I replied with one sentence: Go post what you have told me on LS1tech. I'll be going with a sponsor.

You'll be much happier with a set of heads from sponsors like TEA, MTI, GTP, LPE, or JPR or Absolute Speed etc. The many of the old school SBC guys usually don't have a clue about LS1 heads and aren't willing to learn either.

The only non-sponsor I would buy heads from are my friends at SRP Racing as their guys are SAM grads that worked for MTI, LPE & GTP and can also do excellent LS1 heads.

I've had two people email me about problems they are having with this Dann Moffis guy. I filled a complaint with paypal.com. That's what I payed him with. Paypal.com wouldn't do anything about it. They said that they can only dispute goods that have not been recieved. They can't do anything about damaged, defective,or fasle advertising products.

Just .02 more cents,

I met Craig at GTP this weekend and went to his shop to try and get some knowledge - useless on a dumb A$$ like myself but I will say the brother knows what's up. He may be a little pricey but his heads are worth it. When I get my pictures scanned in - I'll show you what he just did to my LT1 heads (stage II). Each of the cylinders flowed between 275 and 280 @ .600
Not too shabby for my 8 year old baby. BTW I think the 286cfm original number you had for the LS1 head is a wee bit high for stock. Whatever you do go with someone who is proven

I'm about to get some GTP stage III heads LS1 just curious how much they will flow and what would be the difference if I could get a set of LS6 heads. I mean if it's huge I might try to come up with the extra cash.
