This just goes to show you how strong the LS1 really is. My brother's Camaro which was formerly a police car had 150,000+ miles on it and was still going to the strip on the weekends with no problems. That car had been beaten its entire life and just kept going. Your car should be just fine if you decide to do a cam swap. I would say your motor is just nice and broken in at this point. Hope it all works out for you.

Well, I voted before I read it, so I mashed the >100k button but I would have mashed the >125k button, because I did my swap at 124k. Seems to me if you doing, spring, retainers, oil pump, and timing chain while your there, your actually extending the life of your motor.

no such thing. cam install reliability is almost based purely on the owner of the car/installer. (ie - how well motor was maintained, cleanliness of install, etc)

Depends on the maintenance on the engine and current conditon. I say go for it as long as its in good order even if its on the higher side of milleage.

Bottom line....its a crap shoot no matter what your miles. That pertains to every system in our cars as well. I just killed a 74,000 mile A4...and my brother rails on his 120,000 mile one to this day! You just dont know. So do it...replace what makes sense...and just always be prepared to tear down when it comes time.

50,000 is nothing on a LS series engine..142,000 on the one I am driving now and it sees the red line dailey and only uses a half quart of oil every 5,000 mles..if these motors are maintained correctly they will last a very long time. I run mine hard but it is maintained well and it still runs very stong..

Miles are not the only determining factor, but the health of your motor.

My advice before camming:

1- Leakdown test
2- Compression test

Only based on the results then make a decision.
