This would not be on a daily driver but it would have to drive like one just in case I want to take the car on a road trip. I've been wanting to build a motor pretty bad and think I'm about ready to do it. Looking at a 382cid. I'll just start at the intake and go back. Custom lid, ported stock maf, ported stock TB, LS6 intake, GM CNC ported LS6 heads, GM grand am cup cam, hookers with true dual and X pipe. This would be on an M6 car with 3.73's. I would think everything is matched up fairly well, but would like some opinions.

what is a GM grand am cup cam???

need some specs!!

I'd suggest something like I have 236/232 112lsa comp xe-r. Also would probably want to go ahead and do a ported oil pump and double roller timing chain.

Its no way in hell you can get that cam and have it on a daily driver. Not with a 106LSA, your gona have problems with your power brakes too because of the lack of vacume. Thats and all out raod/circle track cam. Just to stay alive im guessing your gona have to idle if not close to or maybe even over 2000rpm. With 3.73's it wouldnt be that effective any ways. your gona need at the least 4.56's The lowest i say you could go on a streetable cam is maybe a 111LSA.

Edit:you might as well call it a mini C5-R race car

I recall someone having that cam in a near-stock Z06, and it was driven daily...

The oil pump and timing chain are a must, I just didn't list them. I've read the post with this cam being used on an otherwise stock LS6. My biggest concern has already been mentioned, brakes. I would think that the bigger displacement might help with the power band a little in the lower RPM range. Not too worried about idle speed. I think I could get this cam to settle in at about 1600, which I could live with. If I could get everything to work, I think it would be pretty bada$$. Just need to do a little more homework, that's all.

I dont reccomend this cam for your set up but if you used custom tuning you could get idle down to around 1000 rpm, with steel flywheel and lots of timing at idle. Kickass exhaust would clean up idle some also by reducing backpressure with that LSA!
