Default can Ls1/Ls6 heads 4.2 or 4.25 bore?

can Ls1/Ls6 heads chamber be opened or set up for 4.200 or 4.250 bore?

and how much for the extra work above the price of an already ported assembled heads (from a site) that is if possible.

I do not think so, I've seen 4.125 bore but not more on stock castings.

I don't see a point in keeping stock castings with such big bore motor. Aftermarket heads would make it shine.

1-stealth.
2-money saving.
3-temporary until funds and decision made on what to get.

might be any of the above or a combination.

Well, you could have the chamber opened up on unmilled LS1/LS6 stock castings for 4.0" or 4.030" bore but not sure about 4.200 or 4.250 bore.

You can check with any of the sponsors but it will not be cheap to ship heads overseas and backward to do head work. You can buy 6.0L heads setup for your motor for reasonable price and it will get you good performance.

BTW, what motor are you building that will have that big bore. What aftermarket block are you using?

my plans is to buy heads from the US not ship and back .... and just checking the options and price estimate and if I can afford it or not .... (can do with time but the more I wait the more I`m frustrated).

just checking the price on a gmpp lsx short block if it`s within the budjet then it`s either stock ported casting or ported L92 packege (I`m assuming that their chambers can be opened for the 4.200 bore)

so just waiting for answers here and in the L92 section and doing the math.

That is a 4.200 max bore I believe (not sure). What size motor are you looking at.
I was looking at 4.125 and 4.125 crank (441 cid).

Nicely square with plenty available market parts, from budget to wild.

it`s a max 4.250 bore .... but I`m going 4.200 for it to have more life for future bore icrease if needed and something goes wrong .... 4.250 eagle crank is pretty afforable same or not that much different than the 4.000 .. eagle or scat compstar 6.125 rods are affordable too .. it`s custom pistons anyway with the 4.250 crank so 4.200 pistons .... I calculated it to 471 ci with the stock deck height block.

Bore Range 4.000-4.250 in, stroke Up To 4.5 in for the LSX block.

It will be a total waste to build such an engine with stock style heads.

You will need heads that flow close to 360CFM, something like ported LS7 heads and those won't be cheap. You will be looking at somthing like $4000-6000 for the ported heads.

4.500 stroke for the higher deck height version and the bore is 3.999 if I`m not mistaken and bore it what ever you want to the 4.250 max bore recommended (although in the video the gmpp representitive said 4.300 but this is what I remember don`t feel like checking back) .... and small cam small heads and ok .... I`ll leave alot np.

this has turned into an lsx block discut(or s)ion still I didn`t know if it can be done or the max chamber it can be opened up to ...

Patriot Performance does 4.125 for the 6.0 heads stage III I think... don`t know what`s the max shops can do for ls1/ls6 heads.

About the same like 243s stage III. This is why I suggested a 4.125 bore if stock castings in mind.
where 6.0L heads are better is that you can get welded chambers with different sizes, so no need huge dishes in pistons. you can also get flat tops (small reliefs) with 71cc chambers and a healthy 12.0:1 for premium fuel.

Quick Reply: can Ls1/Ls6 heads 4.2 or 4.25 bore?
