Need H/C Advice
I'm thinking of doing a H/C swap. I'm looking for something that will make at least 400 rear wheel horsepower. I plan on getting FLP long tube headers and I already have most other bolt ons. I am considering MTI Stage II heads and their T1 cam (221/221,.558/.558,112). I want something very reliable (daily driver, about 15K miles per year). I also want something with a nice cam "chop" in it. Who has the best setup for what i'm looking for? Can i get that HP off a stage I cylinder head setup?

Re: Need H/C Advice
MTI has excellent set ups without question.
However, I'd skip the T1 cam as you should be able to find a more powerful cam that will offer what you want. The Hammer Cam, C1 should have an edge over T1. Also the TR cams seem to do very well. MTI Stage II set up also use dual springs so you can go more aggressive than a T1 had have good realiability. I think what MTI calls the C2 is a very nice cam. 224/224 XE-R .581 lift. There are also several 220 to 224 duration Comp Grinds that are very nice.
I'm eager to see how my TEA heads and 224 XE-R cam compare dynowise with the MTI C2 set ups out there. I should know Tuesday and hope to post the graph shortly after.
BTW, I'm located near Charlotte which is close to South Carolina. If you want to discuss H & C installs and potential pitfalls etc let me know.

I'm usually in Columbia (going to USC). You're not far at all. The main concern I have is the reliability issue. I'm not going to have her on the track all the time and I don't beat it up. I want something mean that will last a long time.

Hey, man, did you just move to Columbia? I moved away from there last month. Make sure you visit the parking lot at 5 Points on fri and sat nights. You'll see some cool ls1 guys. Do you have a 6 speed? I've seen quite a few of them make over 400rwhp with stage 1 heads and a smallish cam. Like the Comp 218/224, TR 224 and a few others. If you get h/c, don't worry about losing races in Columbia. Very few hard core hot rods there. In 2 years I never lost a race, and that was just with a converter and all the bolt ons.

Ha Ha.....No I have an automatic and I've seen all the ricers at the parking lot before. I just laugh as I ride by. I don't drive her much around here (too busy with school) but I've yet to loose to anything around here. How much gas mileage would I loose with a H/C setup?

Red,
About once a month some of the Carolina F-Body Club meet at Tubby's in Rock Hill South Carolina. I think that's about 60 miles from Columbia. I usually go when they have a get together, if want to see how the MTI tuning idles etc you can see first hand. Everyone would be happy to see another F-Body. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
