I don't think the warhawk block is out yet. They just tested the first complete one on the dyno on March 22. Dyno numbers look good, but I can't wait for some in car numbers/track times.

Thanks, I missed that one.

Darn, things are not cooking quickly enough for me

Looks like GM LSX iron block is still a strong contender.

Well, competition here is stepping up, so I will need bigger cubes. I'll keep the 370 as back up.
I'm looking for a reliable good power making big cubes. From what I can see, GM LSX block is a winner so far. (looking at 438>440 cubes or so).
Either
4.125 bore/4.125 stroke (441)
Or
4.125 bore/4.100 stroke (438)

AFR 225s, Lunati crank, Lunati Pro Billet rods, Flat top pistons, .042 gaskets, custom hydraulic cam (my specs), 1 7/8 headers, Wilson sheet metal intake, 100mm TB, 100 mm MAF, OLMAF tuned etc...

7000+ rpm

550+ rwhp + 300+ shot dual stage (DP), I think the PCM will be the wall factor, I'm told that it can handle 800+ HP (need some research in that area)

Not really but definately healthy All out would be solid roller
I need a "reliable" combo to last at least a season or two.

i was about to ask, why don't you just go solid roller. i always thought a good solid setup would be more reliable then a hyd. care to inform me of your opinion on "reliability" of the hyd vs solid?

Jon

My guess is that you can go for solid roller setup and get good power from your 370ci engine.

Besides what's wrong with stock PCM. All I know it's good for 8000RPM and for serious power for those LS-based engines. I know boosted guys go for Big Stuff3, Accell DFI or Fast for added power and more options but for NA/NOS, what's nothing wrong with stock PCM.

Because with a solid you have to constantly check lash and such. Its a PITA.

ya but i thought his car was more a race car and didn't see much street time. so checking things like that wouldn't be THAT big a deal.

Properly set, valvetrain stability is more reliable in solid rollers but not user friendliness.
I have limited amount of time I can put a week on this so adjusting lash on a regular basis is not my cup of tea.
With today's advanced hydraulic tech, I can extract within 10>20 rwhp of a solid roller setup, since I use juice, I can make that up by jet change.

Car is by no means "full" race, only weight saving is back seats, spare and front sway. All else is still stock and it is a heavy slinger.

When I race here, I'm the only one in my division that actualy drives his car to and from the track on a regular basis.

That is how i like it. When i come to the point where I have to trailer my car to the track i will quit modding and racing. I am all about driving to the track running it and driving home. When trailers become involved then its too serious for me.
