New alum shortblock or keep the iron?

1) keep the iron bullit
2) get the nitrous kit out of the closest
3) paint the car so no one in Chicago recognizes it

If you're concerned with dyno numbers-EWP and pull the belt.
if that doesn't do it-open headers.
and dyno on radials @50 PSI.

Maybe custom intake with a carb on it.?

PSJ,

I like the idea of a better flowing intake like the sheet metal intake from More Performance - lots of money but I bet you might be able to cram quite a bit more air into the engine. I don't know though - 471rwhp on 28 drag radials - sounds like you might be close already. Dyno's are for engineers, timeslips are for racers. Can you sit on it for four months and get about two miles under your belt a quarter at a time

i would say try running a 4.150 bore block with a short stroke.

how about this.

4.150 bor x 3.52 stroke....

that comes out to 380 inches.

drop alot of dope in it and spin her to the moon.......

I say go for the alum block AND 1 7/8" headers.

I say try a solid cam. As far as the exhaust goes, 1 7/8 headers with an X-pipe, Race Magnums and turndowns. You don't need the extra weight of a Y-pipe & cat back at the strip.
Those two will probably get you another 30 hp.

I like the post about spraying and painting it so no one recognizes it. To bad you showed everyone on the chitown board the new hood plus people know what you look like. Im sure i could pick that car out in a parking lot of racecars.

John:

RADICAL HIGH LIFT SOLID ROLLER>SOLID ROLLER>SOLID ROLLER, spinnint to 7200+ and 1 7/8 Headers and you should be at 500rwhp no problem.

Angry, no, that was on the equivalent of 28 inch tall ET streets. I can supposedly pick up just from dynoing on a regular radial, maybe 5-10rwhp?

I think I will do some 1&7/8 headers but I hear they are tight around the steering shaft.

Call me crazy but I think he should go with a big bore and keep the big stroke to. I figure if you own a LS1 chat site you should have the big dog motor. 4.15 bore and a 4.125 stroke comes out to a 446 on my calculator Then after that I would pick up the 1 7/8 headers and the new intake. Then when the combo is all sorted out and running good.... spray the ever living hell out of it

I'm with 99 ramair T/A, a guy in your position should have a stout engine, and 440+ inches in an LS1 is stout no matter how you look at it. The 1 7/8" headers are the way to go, and I would also recommend stepping up the intake valve size, and portwork in the bowl area, to take advantage of the HUGE cubic inches. I think you can reach your goals without even using the spray.

T56 6-speed conversion
Replace 9" with 12-bolt
Dyno on radials instead of slicks

I also think a site owner should have a BIG motor, or at least a quick car

hehe

John, if you do decide to go with a bigger motor; you need the baddest *** Pontaic motor number there is: 4.19" bore and a 4.125" crank equals 455.02" Super Duty!

I agree more head work and bigger valves. Do headers with ex., quiet that thing down. If you want the big motor let me build it I will get you 500hp 4.155 bore and 4.125 stroke big solid cam and you are looking at wheel standing TQ
And I am with Tony stop playing with that automatic!

I'm not sure about max bore.
But I think the maxium cubic inches(bore and stroke) is 471ci.
(but don't quote me)

Someday I will know for sure.

I think the C5R can go like 4.150 bore max, and I personally would never go over 4.000 stroke since I'd like to buzz some rpms some day.

c5r's can do 4.160.

john has a 4.075" crank, not a 4.125.

provided that dyno was locked and you didnt have any electrical issues at the time, i say throw some radials on it, get that intake, and try a cam recommended by Wade. I still think the heads would like a standard split cam. if your are certain the port flow is %-wise comparable to stock, you could go reverse. OR just ditch that nasty 9" with 4.10's and make it a street car. that would free up a few ponies.
