Well i think its like 5rwhp with the ls6 manfold for about 400 plus dollars or 400 for the cam plus 200 for retainer plus springs u couls look at 30 plus rwhp. Go with the cam its worth the money.

the ls6 manifold only gives a 5 rwhp gain doesn't seem worth it. Is the 224/224 112lsa 581 581 a good choice?

I don't think the .581 lift is necessary with stock heads. I don't think the .581 lift will gain anything over the TR-224's .561 lift on stock heads. The 981 springs will work but you'll need to change them more often to be safe. The Rev duals for unmachinced heads have gotten mixed reviews. I think for the XE-R cams it's very wise to run dual springs, otherwise your asking for trouble later on.

If your going to keep stock heads, I'd go with a TR-224 or TR-220 or Hammer/C1/Go Fast T/A 222/222 XE cam.

224 .581 112 is a great stock heads or ported heads cam!!!

either way both those mods work off each other.... you will end up needing both for peak HP... cams like air and and open exhaust

TR224 cam is a great choice... but for a M6 112 is a nice LSA! 114 for autos

also look into getting LS1 edit if you are going the cam route. Its worth the money

WILL THE 581 LIFT HURT WITH STOCK HEADS AND HOW MUCH MORE ABUSE DOES IT DO COMPARED TO THE 561 LIFT? HOW ABOUT A SPLIT DURATION/LIFT CAM WHICH IS BETTER.I HOPE TO DO HEAD MODS IN THE FUTURE PROB ABOUT A YR OR SO. THANKS

If your going to ported heads later and willing try it go for it.

Here are a few more threads that might be of interest. Note in one of the threads someone made 397rwhp with a .525 lift cam and stock heads.

thanks for the info seems like the 561 lift should make me the power and give less headahces down the road{don't feel like changing springs to often}but again is there any advantage to running a split duration/lift cam with about the same specs as im looking at now? thanks again for all your help

But i dont plan on doing mine untill I have over 10k on them and when im bored

.56x lift cam will be great with stock heads while also being a little tamer on the valve train over time
