NOT happy with DYNO results...LG G5X3, Pro Longtubes, "mail order" tune
So I just came back from my DYNO run after installing the LG G5X3 cam and an LG "mail order" tune.
Needless to say, I'm NOT happy with the results. LG SWORE up and down that their G5X3, Pro Longtubes, and their tune would make an EASY 420-430 RWHP. I'm at 410. :-? Even all of their posted dyno runs show 430ish RWHP. What the heck..I'm so bummed. I was actually expecting a hair better than 430. I had the whole engine out, did the re-ring procedure, and lightly ported/polished the heads when doing the cam install.
My car is an '01 Z with 35,000 miles. Here is the before and after results. Anyone see different numbers with the same set-up? I'm convinced something's gotta be wrong.

Definitely get a dyno tune man, besides some dynos read a little differently. You really shouldn't look too much into dyno numbers anyway, the track will tell the real story. Don't be a dyno queen.

Look at the difference in the air fuel ratios between your graph and the comparison graph. You cars running a little fat, that probably is some of the difference. Get a real tune in it

Right there couldnt have said it better myself.
Look at your a/f especially downlow real rich compared to the other graph making good power. Thats why your torque is probably lower too and the car feels sluggish down low. A good dynotune will wake that car up 10-15rwhp easy.

Also is your car an auto or manuel? What was the car mods on the posted graph from LG? Every car will be a little differant with the same mods!

When doing mod's it's best to expect disappointment each time out. Relax, I agree with previous comments. A dyno tune should fix your issue. 406rwhp on a mail order tune is actually not bad. But right now your comparing two different things. One just doesn't compare to the other. Cheer Up!

I wouldn't say you are short 21 rwhp. You stated that LG claimed "420-430", not "430", which would put you 10-11 rwhp down. Don't get so hung up on dyno numbers. They are not the ultimate performance measurement and as with most things there are many variables. Get it to the track and see what it'll do!

mail order tunes in general are better off being a bit rich...
Too lean and you'd blow that new mod to hell..
Remember one thing....dynos are great but they do not perfectly simulate road and track conditions...
I'm just shooting the breeze but most tuners tune for a dyno, get the number and before the car leaves the shop...fatten it up....
Heard this a thousand times..
Enjoy the car...(I'd bet your cars a blast to drive now)

just by looking at A/F ratio I'd say get it dyno tuned or track tuned if you have software. but, yea! I agree with proper A/F ratio you can gain some hp/tq on top.

thanks for the insight guys...i feel better now knowing it's probably just some tuning/tweaking. i do have HPTuners and am ordering a WB o2 so I'm sure i'll iron it out in due time. now i can see the point of LG possibly fattening up the tune a little on the mail order tune. i'm sure they want to cover themselves and not have motors start blowing up.

Nope, read it as an 01' Z, meaning a Z28 Camaro. I was just asking if the LG Dyno graph posted was a F-body or a Y-body. A4 vs M6? If it is a auto, then what stall converter was used? Things of this nature are little details that make a differance on the dyno. He should be close after haveing the car tuned on the dyno.

I agree on all as well...mail order tuners put everything on the safe side since they dont have the car in front of them to tweak it properly. 10 hp or so is not uncommon to get with a good dyno tune. Still, 410 at the wheels is pretty badass!
