Default Look Inside > Recommend a cam for me > Max Power > Perfect Idle !

I have an A4 car.

I want a cam that will give me MAXIMUM POWER
but:

1. Will idle as smooth as stock

2. Require no PCM modifications

3. Pass any emissions tests

Any recommendations?

How many threads like this do we see on a weekly basis?

Go to LS1Speed (yes, they are a sponsor) & check out their 218/218 .581/.581 114 LSA cam. 218 is just about the max duration for low emissions & smooth idle, and the .581" lift is just about the highest lift you can get at that duration (uses XE-R lobes).

You will still need some minor tuning at idle, but you should not have to drill the TB blade.

You can get a 224/224 114LSA to pass emissions no problem in a 346. In an A4 though you need a slightly higher than stock idle or a little T-blade drilling. Personally I would go with a 220/220 114LSA -2 degrees retarded cam on XE-R lobes. (.581 lift) With the cam retarded 2 degrees you will peak around ~6200rpm.
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks for the info Hitman... I mean that

Actually, I just posted this as "tongue in cheek"

Sort of a joke thread poking fun at some of the cam questions we see in here everyday.

Anyway.... I'm just waisting band width here. Apologies to the moderators........ <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

BTW, I actually wanted a very good (not great, but very good) performing car that has no ill manners in traffic, so I purchased:

nice mild mannered TR220
FLP headers with cats
LS6 intake
Yank converter
TEA Stage II heads (not purchased yet)

K&C ---- kewl, I get it now.

There's one like that right now on the other UBB:

"What's the biggest, baddest, hairiest cam I can possibly stuff into a bone stock car to get the most horsepower, w/o any other mods, tuning, or costs? How much horsepower will I get, and how fast will I go? Please be specific!"

Say 239/251 @ .050 w/XE-R lobes & 600 lift on a 106 LSA
