AFR 205's milled to 60cc /G5x1...opinions?
I am narrowing down my new set up..
looking for better driveability and torque from what I have now...MS3/PRC 5.3 heads....
dont get me wrong, this combo makes for some great top end power...but it is not efficient...and is really top end, something I should have expected but overlooked (got caught up in the BIG cam hype)
Wanted to know what ya'll thought about the combo in the title and if you think it'll need flycutting...
Thanks
Erik

Have you thought about just swapping out the cam instead of changing the entire setup.
May take a look at the TSP Torquer V.3 cam. You may lose some top end HP, but gain more torque and HP down low.
I think you can do a simple cam change to obtain what you are looking for, just my .02

I already sold the set up, but that is not to say that I cannot buy the same heads again...I know that sounds dumb, and it is lol--I will just leave it at that...
Let's assume the $ is not a factor...

If you dont have fly cuts, make sure u have P/V with the cam. A 224 228 will fit but not sure how much more. Look at DRC for torque numbers. 9 is a good number. Smaller cam bigger DRC. I like the AFR alot more that the PRCs. But more money PRC are good .

If you do go with the AFR heads, for whatever reason, I would try and get a bigger cam then the G5X1.
If you really like the LG cams, then a G5X3 would fit the setup well, or I would still recommend a Torquer V.3 cam from TSP. The Torquer cam + small runner heads = Torque happy setup!!

My personal opinion for a street car is to run a cam between 224/228 to 230/232 duration.
thats what I think is a good size for a daily driver and doesnt compromise drivability. get some nice heads and run a higher compression with a cam in that duration range and i think you will love the drivability. patrick and tony M. have proven you can make killer power with a 224/228 setup right.

thanks fellas...all points taken..
FI is out of the question because of $$$....I mean, it is not even on the same level as what a good h/c set up will run me...
I LOVE the idea of FI, but need to get a degree first

I would say go wit hthe AFRs 205s. Thats what I will buy down the road.
Then I say go with Mamos bigger cam. I think its a 228/232. Try to get a hold on Tony. I know that combo will make GOOD power and the area under the curve will make you very happy.
Do some research on that combo.
