Patrior definitly has a great reputation. They are known for their customer service. I had a hard time deciding between them and AFR's.

Ive got some patriot heads and with a 231/237 cam made 411rwhp on a mustang dyno and 440 on a dynojet. I just added a fast 90/90 and an ms4 cam and im hoping for 480ish on the dynojet with the patriot 5.3l heads

I'm new to the LS1 world, but in the Mustang 4.6 world they aren't very reputable. They have great customer service, ie: Gunnar....but the quality isn't so good. Remember, you get what you pay for. It's just my $0.02

Patroit heads... This has been a long discussed debate on all the web sites.
Here is the deal.
The you get what you pay for quote is typicially true. I woud say the value of their head is THE best value per dollar of any cylinder head.
You get a fully ported head, with a top notch valvetrain with top notch customer service. You figure a LS6 head alone can add 20 HP over a LS1 head so geting into a Ported LS6 head that can be milled additionially can only mean more power.
If your in the market for a budget head then PP has a head for you.
Will they make what a set of 215 Trickflow's or ETP's make? No way.
But they also cost half what those heads cost.
Get you budget and goals in mind and make your choice from there.
If you only looking for a 20+ HP gain then these heads should be your choice. If your looking for a 40+HP gain then you might have to spend a bit more money.
For the money the value is awsome.
Good luck.

I love my Patriot Stg II LS6/243 heads milled .020. I dyno'd 330 rwhp before. Added headers (FLP w/ ORY) and then the Patriot 243 StgII heads. Dyno'd 395 rwhp. That is a nice 65 rwhp gain. How much are just form the heads I do not know but I figure about 35-40. This is with my small 218/218 .563/.563 comp cam.

Also: heads, installation, arp bolts, and tune cost me about the same as the ARPs alone.

best bang for the buck. test shows (GMHighPerf-Tech) PP heads. 34rwhp gain on stock motor, swapping heads only. AFR's was something like 38rwhp, swapping heads only. difference in price is around 1000/1200.

Now for the good part!
I'm running PP LS6 cnc, 59cc, 2.02in/1.57ex, unmilled. 231/237 .589/.595 112+4 LSA. heads flow #'s 302 in/ 238 ex . 418rwhp/389rwtq. ported Tb and LS6 intake. I'm happy...............

This is what we have been talking about, a quality head built with great parts for a reasonable price. We have worked very hard (after a little of a rocky start) to put on our product at the top of the list when selecting a pair of heads. We have some of the best personel in place and the latest technology. As thousands of customers have found out, Patriot Performance is the best value on the market.

Thumbs up

Search on any LSx based message boards; Gunnar and his team are legendary for treating their customers right. I am very pleased with the quality and performance of my Patriot heads. Many people, including me, have made references that Patriot heads are a great "value" or "bang for the buck", but I'm not sure that's really does them justice. I am fortunate enough to live in an area with 2 dragstrips that are open year-round. I frequent them both, and regularly get lined up against similar vehicles with much more costly aftermarket heads. I have no fear when that happens; my track experience has shown me that my Patriots perform comparably to those more expensive heads.

Patriots are a good cheap head, with the right mods you can run with The Big Dogs.

yeah, seem like a good deal. Brand new heads with the springs would almost be worth 1095.

Gunnar, is there a price reduction with using 918 springs?

Mine are 2003 5.3's. Went 387rwhp TR224 cam only, 420rwhp after heads and tune. Sadly torque only went from 386 to 396. Power under the curve was up over the stock heads in certain rpm ranges and in certain ranges it was very close. I have not had a problem with mine since 03.

Are there better heads out there that make more power? Yes, AFR, TFS all will make more peak power and under the curve power but they come at a cost. It all depends on what you want and how deep your wallet is.

Would I trade my PP for AFR's? In a heartbeat. Am I pleased with the PP's for the price? Yes
