I sold my nasty loud agressive LS1 RX7 (Trex cam, LT's, dual 3" exhaust/no cats with dual 40series flowmasters LOUD) for a Stock C5 Vette a few months ago. I have been in the middle of figuring out what I want to do with the new car. The day I got it, I told myself I wouldn't go all out and crazy with it, I wanted it to be more civil, and easier to deal with. After going to a few car shows and seeing guys with their stock C5's & aftermarket exhausts or the occasional low psi blower...I decided mine needs to stand out. I dont want mine to just blend in with the next Vette owner who's car is "louder" due to an exhaust, or has a blower "whine" when they punch it at a tiny 5psi.

My Vette will now be exactly what the RX7 was, no cats, least restrictive exhaust possible, nasty sounding cam that makes power up top etc...etc...

I've had it blend in for a few months and I'm already tired of it. Time to make it fast and SOUND the part

See idle videos at this link for my old car...I want the Vette to do the same thing These were pre-tune so they were pretty rough Trex idles

A C5 with a T-rex sounds retarded on the street. Look at the car ! It is finesse in itself, You can make more power than just T-Rex with a nice AFR 205/ Tony mamo 224/228 and still hold the image the vette reflect.
Doing that to a vette is like miss world chewing tobaco and spitting on your shoes.

Funny, to each his own I guess. I cant wait to have a sick camming C5. I should have said I wasn't specifically going to get the Trex, but still something pretty large. I dont want to rev this car to 7000 all the time.

The guy asked for advice, I gave it. Thanks for yours even though I didn't ask

If the car is all raced out and you're not going for the clean look ect.. Loud and mean sounding is the way to go imo. If the car is very clean, like it doesnt have skinnies/fattys on it.. I dont think there's anything better then seeing a quiet stealthy car haul *** !!

Just my 2 cents, quiet and stealth. I am making 442/439 and the TSP Torquer 2 cam sounds almost stock in the 408. Spanked a Whipple Cobra the other night and his buddy's 90LX with a 351 and 150 shot. They spent the rest of the night accusing me of running spray. Of course, they couldn't find any

You're not going to be stealth no matter what your exhaust sounds like...

We need some deep thunder to outweigh the annoying bee-buzz of these ricers

Exactly,do you want to intimidate the ricers,or do you want them to laugh at you back when you rev your sissy sounding engine.

How do you figure that guys with 4 cylinders and fart cans have room to laugh at anyone's exhaust tone?

If their fart can exhaust is drowning out the exhaust of your mellow sounding LS1 of course they are going to laugh. That is until you smoke them. The loud intimidating rumble of a powerful gasoline hogging engine is one of the main reasons I love V-8's.If that dont get your Chevy red blood flowing, you have more estrogen in your body than you have testosterone.

I have my true duals set up right now so that its VERY tolerable under low RPMs, but loud enough to set off car alarms at higher RPMs.

I like it because I have the option of being quiet.

No offense dude, but once again IMHO, those words smack of some kind of inferiority complex. I don't worry about how much testosterone is in my body, I worry about how many horses are coming off my wheels. My exhaust is like my *****, quiet but effective.

Personally, I prefer loud and mean. Of course, you can get loud and mean with an electric cutout, and still keep it relatively quiet when you're on longer drives!
