Trying to find one is a b**ch. Dealer wants to sell a complete backing plate. Anybody have a backingplate they would like to sell, complete with E-brake?

What was the rubber hose on the spring for?

I media blasted anything that could unbolt from the car, used a good expoxy primer and then followed up with a semi-gloss black urethane with a flattener added to giveit the stock look. I didn't want things to be goddy, just clean.

A few trips to the track and the burnout box and it will be like everyone elses, but after a powerwash it will look good again (because there will still be some paint there)

Not being an everyday, or winter car will help too.
I am doing the same thing to mine. I am in the process of changing the rear, trans and 408 engine. What did you use to paint the under carriage? I am going to be using the POR15 and see how that stuff works.

Good right up and great pics...good luck finishing up the odds and ends of your build and getting it lined out.

I wanted something to replace the rubber isolaters to dampen the noise without changing the ride height. The 9" axle tube is a biiger diameter.

Nothing on the bottom, it is stock, just really clean. POR 15 works very well, even when just brushed on, spraying is alot nicer though.

I used a single stage urethane with a flatner for the suspension pieces on top of a good self-etching epoxy primer. I blasted everything to baremetal.

Spring 08 update! 4-09-08

Finally made it back to the track this week after a long winter. After changing the PY3400 Yank (which acted like stock behinid this combo) for a Yank 4000SS the car really came around. I surpassed my 11.80 goal and went 11.55 and 11.51 this past Wednesday night. If I would have got a third attempt I think I could have been in the 40's.

I also changed to a set of Bogart D10 wheels and the Hoosier QTP's (drag wheels and tires). So after swapping the converter and wheels and tires my car picked up almost .7! After installing the Yank4000SS the M/T 17" ET radials just would not hold the car at the track, but they make for a great street tire.

I cut a 1.59 and a 1.57 60' on those two runs at the track on the Hoosier QTP's. I was running 15psi that night in the tires. I also installed HAL adjustable rear shocks and set them to 5 clicks from tight. I then moved my T/A up to the fifth hole from the bottom and wolla! high 1.50 sixty footers which I am sure is how the 402RWHP is yielding me the 11.50 runs. MPH was high 116's on both.

It started to rain before I could get the third run in, but I had raised my shift points from 6100 to 6450, so I was hoping for a little better et and speed. I am thinking it will go 11.46 - 11.48 before it is all said and done. This a stock weight car with drag wheels and tires and a full exhaust system with converters so I am thrilled at my performance

Next up on the list is a 100HP NX MAF kit which should yield some 10.80's or so. Not bad for a very mild and streetable combination that is dead quiet to drive with nearly no sound of a cam out back through the Magnaflow cats.

After reaching my goals I am completely thrilled to drive it and so far it has been a great reliable fun build!

awesome dude. looks like I am a fortune teller. and I do agree though, with the newly added mods, and some practice/adjments, you will be able to wittle that down into the low 11.4x's soon.

give us some cam info dude. if your trying to keep the exact #s a secret, just give us ballpark #s then. high lift cam? low 23x's duration? just a guess.

Yep, I remember you did predict it. Well, it feels good to finally have done it. I will try for the 40's next week, but I don't think it will do any better than that. I have the suspension pretty much dialed in to a T.

Not a super high lift. I was going to get the MAMO cam '224/228' but didn't want to pay top dollar for it, so I bought the similar one from Comp thru a wholesale division at Summit. They stock the cam with a slightly different exhaust lobe than the AFR/Mamo cam. Same lsa, etc. Specs and part number is CCA-54-444-11 part number

Grind number XER273HR-14

224/230 @ .050"
273/279 @ .006"
.581/.592 gross lift

Default 11.51 1/4 mile video

http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t...4-10-08mpg.flv

Uploaded a vid of the 11.51 1/4 run to photobucket.

FYI. The loud exhaust car is not mine, it was my opponent in the other lane. He had true duals dumped under the car. My car is super quiet.

Well I must say I am very impressed!! That car was built with TLC in mind. I am in the process of trying to get my car back up in running. I should have went the same route as you did and upgrade the tranny and the rearend at the time of the build. I got all the engine work done and used the stock tranny (which was already slipping bad) and rearend. The car dynoed at 423rwhp and 403rwtrq (Through the slipping tranny). 3 days after the dyno the tranny went out. Bought a new built tranny and got the car back up and running. Didn't think I would break the stock rearend on the street but boy was I wrong.. Now just waiting on the Strange 12 bult and 4.10 gears to come in so I can see what she'll run!! If I run even close to what you ran I would be very happy!! Congrats man on a beautiful car!!
