Questions for the H/C guys..
Preface: I've done a little research and if I decide to part from regular bolton's I am going to dive into a head and cam deal. The following are questions related to the setup that will be encountered.
Current modifications -
Mac Mids w/ off road Y
SLP Loudmouth
LS1 Manifold
Lid
!air !egr !cats
Modifications prior to H/C -
Yank SS3600
LS6 Manifold
Better Tires
Full airride suspension
The car isn't necessarily daily driven as I have a work van. But it is my DD aside from that. I have been eying up the 228R as I don't feel like I want to go any larger than that. Most of all I do not really want to have to spin my motor higher than stock if I can help it. I am aware of paying to play, but I would like my play time to be limited as to accommodate my budget.
Question(s) -
Is the 228R suited to what I am looking for with the vehicle, if not what would be another recommendation?
What heads would the previously noted cam (either 228R or suggested) benefit from on a non budget view (total best) and from a view which is a little more money conscious?
Compression Ratio, with noted heads, what should be done as far as gaskets?
If I wind up leaving power on the table, so be it. The car will not see the track but it will see some spirited street driving.

Longtubes would, but remember I'll be running a full air ride soon. If I slam the car to park somewhere or if I blow a line *god forbid* I need all the clearance I can get.

I'd hold the exhaust valve open a little longer since you're running mids even though you're exhaust from there back is free flowing. I'd go with a 228/232 (I have a similar one) on XE-R lobes on a 109+2.

Okay so all of the knowledge of people on the board can't figure out whether or not the 228R is something that would work with the setup and goal I have? I don't believe that it is that far out of the realm of reality that someone other than Asmodeus can't answer. I have thought about the exhaust valve being open longer as I only have mids but I'm not sure.
