Making the TB opening larger (92) does not address where the choke of the manifold is. Proper porting of the runners shows some nice gains. Going to a 92mm opening does not show any real gains in stock unported form. According to Tony Mamo, the FAST 92 is as good as the FAST 90 (flow-wise), just not any better.
Thanks for that info. I am trying to figure things out for a possible future build (depending on if my wife and i get another fbody or not)

Just FWIW- The Fast 90/92 are identical performance wise. FAST had to do some updating, revisions, and needed a way to differentiate the old FAST and the new one, so they named it the 92mm

Hey Louis, have you guys experimented with any of the sheetmetal intake stuff at all in your shop? (i'm sure you have, just had to ask) And if so, how do you like the results?

Yes, it takes a combo based around a sheet metal intake to really let it shine. The LS stuff we have tested Back to back with the Fast yeilded a little more hp, but at a loss of tq in the mid range.

The cams are optimized around the FAST/LS6 runners, and changing intakes with out changing cams is not a fair comparison. Remember, the whole combo is taking into consideration the tuning of Header primaries, durations, and intake runner lengths. Its something you do with a new platform, but no one speaks about it now because 99% of the stuff you buy today for LS motors is already based around that

The Y-Pipe has to match your headers or you can have one made. I would recommend a Y-pipe.

The best off the shelf one that meets Pat Gs requirements is a QTP 3" Y-pipe.

Hi lazylongboarder,

The goal of this recipe was to reach 500RWHP on a stock cube NA keeping as much as possible the stock drivability...

Not sure a Victor Jr. is going to make your wife happy driving the car in the parking lot of the grocery store...

Christian,

I'm very envious of your setup and hope to soon approach the level of power your C5 makes.

On my 346 I just recently went from a LS6 intake and stock TB to an Edelbrock 4150 TB and ported Victor Jr. and the driveability is fantastic, much better than 1st setup. Also, i swapped from stock 243's to heavily ported valved 243's.

With an aggressively ported intake, new untouched 4150 TB i don't feel I've lost any torque at all, part throttle and just cruising is greatly improved. Side note-the car hooks up drastically better in first and second which could be a clue to losing some low end. My opinion could be swayed since low RPM throttle response is so much better. Either way i don't see myself going back to a composite intake unless Patrick G. suggests i do.

I appreciate you clarifying the authors intentions, I've followed this thread religiously and have searched like crazy...98 posts in 3 years on the boards, my apologies if i asked a redundant question that's already been answered or doesn't apply to the topic dood.

I'm hoping for 450 rwhp with my current setup and will be soon consulting with Patrick G on a custom cam searching for 475 wheel once i've resolved my header situation.

Thanks again, Russell

Thanks dood.

I've been thinking about what Christian said about driveability and having a woman drive the car and the idea kinda gives me the *******.

But, i took a video of my girl driving the car and she agree's with me on the better driveability (she drove it with the previous setup as well...once). I'll put the video up tomorrow and hopefully i can include one of my mom driving it as well in the next week, it's pretty docile for the weight of the car and dur. of the cam.

From what i've read on the boards, the Vic Jr goes to crap if the combo was not designed as a combo. My heads and intake and TB are a good match, just need a custom Patrick G. cam and custom headers. I guess i was just curious why i saw only Fast intakes on this magical 500 rwhp # on the street.

Thanks again, I think i'll read through it again for the 5th-6th time
Russell
